Monday 22nd September 2014 IoS Bird Sightings

St. Mary’s – The juvenile Rose-coloured Starling was still at Pelistry Farm, 2 Curlew Sandpipers, a Black-tailed Godwit, 6 Whinchats, a Spotted Flycatcher, a Pied Flycatcher, a Melodious Warbler & a Firecrest were at Porth Hellick and 31 Chiffchaffs were trapped at the ringing station. St. Mary’s -There were plenty of common migrants around with 150+ Blackcaps, 50+ Sedge Warblers, 50+ Chiffchaffs, 30+ Willow Warblers, Whinchats into double figures and a scattering of Spotted Flycatchers on the island. St. Mary’s – A Wryneck, a Pied Flycatcher and 7 Spotted Flycatchers were in the Garrison pines.
