Tuesday 13th to Monday 19th June 2017 IoS Bird Sightings

Tuesday’s birds were:

St. Mary’s – There was an influx of Common Swifts with 25+ at Telegraph.

Bryher – A Common Swift and a Lesser Whitethroat.

St. Agnes – A Whimbrel and 3 Common Swifts.

Wednesday’s birds were:

St. Mary’s – A Hobby was over the island and a White Wagtail was at Old Town.

Bryher – The Lesser Whitethroat was still on the island.

Tresco – 3 Common Swifts.

At sea – A Wilson’s Storm-petrel was seen from the Research Vessel “Celtic Explorer” 86 miles SW of St. Agnes, yes, it was in the Scilly recording area! (more…)

Sunday 4th June to Monday 12th June 2017 IoS Bird Sightings

Sunday’s birds were:

St. Mary’s – A Hobby was at Porth Hellick and a Lesser Redpoll was at Shooters’ Pool, Lower Moors.

Bryher – A Hooded Crow.

At sea – A Sooty Shearwater, 40+ European Storm-petrels and a Great Skua were seen on the evening short-range pelagic trip.

There were no reports on Monday or Tuesday.

Wednesday’s birds were:

At sea – A Balearic Shearwater and 2 European Storm-petrels were seen from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s.

Thursday’s birds were:

St. Agnes – A Hobby.

Tresco – 2 Common Pochards and a Common Swift.

St. Martin’s – A Raven. (more…)
