Highlights from Thursdays bird log were:

Treecreeper – 1 in Carreg Dhu Garden was only the 12th for Scilly
Olive-backed Pipit – Still 1 bird in 2nd field along Watermill Lane
Red-throated Pipit – 1 over Telegraph
Lesser Yellowlegs – 1 still on the Great Pool, Tresco
Upland Sandpiper – 1 still at Borough Farm, St. Mary’s
Northern Waterthrush – Showed well at Shooters’ Pool in the afternoon
Wilson’s Snipe – After going missing for a day it re-appeared at Lower Moors (more…)

Tuesday 18th October 2011 IoS Bird Log

Tuesday’s highlights from the log were:

Olive-backed Pipit – 2 birds were found together on Watermill Lane
Red-throated Pipit – 1 or 2 birds involve in sightings at Longstone, Telegraph and St. Martin’s
Black Kite – 1 over the airport in the morning
Upland Sandpiper – 1 still at Borough Farm, St. Mary’s
Northern Waterthrush – Showed dawn and dusk at Higginson’s Pool
Wilson’s Snipe – 1 still at Lower Moors
Radde’s- Warbler – 1 at Salakee Farm (more…)

Monday 17th October 2011 IoS Bird Log

Mondays highlights reported at the bird log were:

Black Kite – 3 left their roost in Holy Vale and flew over St. Mary’s to St. Agnes, Gugh, back to St, Mary’s and then to Tresco, just 1 returned to St. Mary’s late in the afternoon.
Upland Sandpiper – 1 still at Borough Farm, St. Mary’s
American Golden Plover – 1 near the Daymark, St. Martin’s
Lesser Yellowlegs – 1 on the Great Pool Tresco
Northern Waterthrush – Showed dawn and dusk at Higginson’s Pool
Wilson’s Snipe – 1 still at Lower Moors
Radde’s- Warbler – 1 at Salakee Farm
Bonelli’s Warbler sp – 1 was seen at Content but was not identified as Western or Eastern Bonelli’s (more…)

Sunday 16th October 2011 IoS Bird Log

Highlights from tonights bird log were:

Black Kite – 3 flew over St. Mary’s and then over St. Agnes, before returning to St. Mary’s to roost in Holy Vale
Blyth’s Reed Warbler – 1 on St. Martin’s on the coastal path near the school
Upland Sandpiper – 1 still at Borough Farm, St. Mary’s
American Golden Plover – 1 near the Daymark, St. Martin’s
Lesser Yellowlegs – 1 on St. Mary’s and 1 on the Great Pool Tresco and a flyover.
Northern Waterthrush – Showed on and off at Lower Moors and Higginson’s Pool
Wilson’s Snipe – 1 still on St. Mary’s seen at Lower Moors and Porth Hellick (more…)

American Golden Plover – 1 near the Daymark, St. Martin’s
Least Sandpiper – 1 on Tresco
Lesser Yellowlegs – 1 on St. Mary’s and 1 on the Great Pool Tresco and a flyover on St.Agnes
Northern Waterthrush – not seen until the afternoon and then showed several times until dusk on Lower Moors pool.
Wilson’s Snipe – 1 still on St. Mary’s seen at Lower Moors and Porth Hellick   (more…)

Upland Sandpiper – 1 still at Borough Farm, St. Mary’s
American Golden Plover – 1 near the Daymark, St. Martin’s
Least Sandpiper – 1 on Tresco
Lesser Yellowlegs – 1 on St. Mary’s and 1 on the Great Pool Tresco
Northern Waterthrush – not seen until the afternoon and then showed several times until dusk on Lower Moors pool. It has now been present for an amazing 28 days!
Wilson’s Snipe – 1 still on St. Mary’s, today at Lower Moors (more…)
