Purple Heron – The juvenile was still in the Lower Moors area.

Wood Sandpiper – 1 on the Lower Moors Pool and 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.

Green Sandpiper – 1 on the Lower Moors Pool and 2 on Shooters’ Pool.

Common Sandpiper – 1 on St. Agnes.

Yellow-legged Gull – 1 flew west past Deep Point in the evening.

Mediterranean Gull – 60 flew west past Deep Point in the evening.

Thursday (30/07)

Purple Heron – 1 in the evening on Shooters’ Pool.

Wilson’s Storm-petrel – 2 in Scilly waters, seen from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s and 15 on the evening pelagic trip , 5 miles south of St. Mary’s.

European Storm-petrel – 5 in Scilly waters, seen from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s and 20 on the evening pelagic trip , 5 miles south of St. Mary’s.

Great Shearwater – 4 in Scilly waters, seen from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s and 4 on the evening pelagic trip , 5 miles south of St. Mary’s.

Sooty Shearwater  – 1 on the evening pelagic trip , 5 miles south of St. Mary’s.

Manx Shearwater – “ Wall to wall Manx Shearwaters” from 5 miles west of the Wolf Lighthouse all the way to the islands, reported from the Scillonian III

Wood Sandpiper – 1 still at Porth Hellick

Crossbill – 1 just I the pines just east of Carreg Dhu Gardens

Short-beaked Common Dolphin – 10 on the evening pelagic trip , 5 miles south of St. Mary’s.

Blue Shark  – 1 caught, tagged and released on the evening pelagic trip , 5 miles south of St. Mary’s.

Atlantic Bluefin Tuna – 2 huge feeds and 2 small feeds near Scilly, seen from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s and 6 on the evening pelagic trip , 5 miles south of St. Mary’s.

Friday (31/07)

Wilson’s Storm-petrel – 8 on the evening pelagic trip 8.5 miles east of St. Mary’s.

European Storm-petrel – 15 on the evening pelagic trip 8.5 miles east of St. Mary’s.

Sooty Shearwater  – 2 on the evening pelagic trip 8.5 miles east of St. Mary’s.

Manx Shearwater – c1000 on the evening pelagic trip 8.5 miles east of St. Mary’s.

Yellow-legged Gull – A juvenile was on Porth Coose, St. Agnes.

Lapwing – 2 on Lower Moors Pool flew towards Porth Hellick.

Wood Sandpiper – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.

Green Sandpiper – 2 on Porth Hellick Pool, 2 on Tresco Great Pool and 3 on St. Agnes Pool

Common Sandpiper – 1 on St. Agnes.

Cuckoo – A juvenile was  seen a couple of times on the Garrison.

Leatherback Turtle – 1 was off Giant’s Castle.

Fin Whale – 2 where off Porth Hellick Down and probably the same 2 (mother and calf) were seen on the evening pelagic trip (photo).                                                  

Short-beaked Common Dolphin – c100 on the evening pelagic trip and 150 off Giant’s Castle.

Atlantic Bluefin Tuna – 200 on the evening pelagic trip.

Ocean Sunfish – 2 on the evening pelagic trip.

Wilson’s Storm-petrel –15 on a daytime pelagic trip 9 miles southwest of St. Mary’s.

European Storm-petrel – 15 on a daytime pelagic trip 9 miles southwest of St. Mary’s.

Cory’s Shearwater – 2 on a daytime pelagic trip 9 miles southwest of St. Mary’s.

Great Shearwater – 2 on a daytime pelagic trip 9 miles southwest of St. Mary’s.

Sooty Shearwater  – 6 on a daytime pelagic trip 9 miles southwest of St. Mary’s.

Manx Shearwater – 800 on a daytime pelagic trip 9 miles southwest of St. Mary’s.

Mediterranean Gull – 3 at Porth Coose-Browarth, St. Agnes.

Great Skua – 1 on a daytime pelagic trip 9 miles southwest of St. Mary’s and 1 flew past Peninnis Lighthouse late evening.

Wood Sandpiper – 1 still at Porth Hellick.

Whimbrel – 5 at Porth Coose-Browarth, St. Agnes.

Short-beaked Common Dolphin – 40 on a daytime pelagic trip 11 miles northeast of St. Mary’s.

Atlantic Bluefin Tuna – c400! on a daytime pelagic trip 11 miles northeast of St. Mary’s.

White-rumped Sandpiper – 1 was on Periglis Beach, St. Agnes (photo).

Wilson’s Storm-petrel – 12 on an evening pelagic trip 6 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.

European Storm-petrel – 35 on an evening pelagic trip 6 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.

Manx Shearwater – c200 on an evening pelagic trip 6 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.

Lapwing  – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool and it or others were later seen on St, Agnes Pool & the Great Pool, Tresco.

Knot  – A summer-plumage bird was on South Beach, Tresco (photo) and it also on Maiden Bower, Norrard Rocks.

Wood Sandpiper – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool and 3 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Green Sandpiper – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.

Common Sandpiper – 4 flew past Deep Point.

Common Swift – 7 over Parting Carn and 2 over Bryher Community Hall.

Wheatear – 2 on Shipman Head Down, Bryher.

Siskin – 2 at Trenoweth.

Atlantic Bluefin Tuna – 12 on an evening pelagic trip 6 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.

Blue Shark –  on an evening pelagic trip 6 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.

Tuesday (04/08)

White-rumped Sandpiper – After not showing in the morning, it reappeared in the afternoon, on Periglis Beach, St. Agnes.

Wood Sandpiper – 1 still on Porth Hellick Pool and 2 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Green Sandpiper – 2 on the Great Pool, Tresco and 1 on Lower Moors Pool.

Wilson’s Storm-petrel – 19 on an evening pelagic trip 5.5 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.

European Storm-petrel – 35 on an evening pelagic trip 5.5 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.

Great Shearwater – 18 on an evening pelagic trip 5.5 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.

Cory’s Shearwater  – 4 on an evening pelagic trip 5.5 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.

Manx Shearwater – 200+ on an evening pelagic trip 5.5 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.

Short-beaked Common Dolphin – 3 on an evening pelagic trip 5.5 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.

Blue Shark – 3 were caught, tagged and released on an evening pelagic trip 5.5 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.
