Thursday 23rd – Sunday 26th April 2020 – IoS Bird Sightings

Thursday 1000s of Manx Shearwater and up to 1000 Common Dolphin were in feeding frenzies of headlands between the Garrison and Deep Point. Sunday 19th – Monday 20th April 2020 – IoS Bird Sightings

Sunday The Lesser Kestrel  was still in the Porth Hellick Down/Airfield area and a Night Heron flew over the quay toward Hugh Town late evening. 2 Common Scoter were east of Peninnis, a Common Gull was off Bar Point and the Jackdaw was on the Golf Course. Wednesday Small numbers of all 3 hirundines were over Porth Hellick Pool. The Lesser Kestrel flew form the Airfield towards Porth Hellick Down, a Merlin was at the Golf Course and a probable first-winter American Herring Gull flew over Salakee. 3 Dunlin were & a Lapwing were on Porth Hellick Beach and a Bar-tailed Godwit, 3 Whimbrel & a Common Sandpiper were on Porthloo Beach. Monday The Lesser Kestrel was at Porth Hellick Down, a Merlin was on the Garrison and an Osprey was on St. Martin’s.
