Friday 23rd August 2013 IoS Bird Sightings

St. Mary’s – 8 Greenshanks, a Wood Sandpiper, a Common Sandpiper, 5 Green Sandpipers and 2 Kingfishers were on Porth Hellick Pool. Tresco – An Icterine Warbler, a Shoveler and 9 Common Sandpipers.

Thursday 22nd August 2013 IoS Bird Sightings

St. Mary’s – A Melodious Warbler was along the Coastal path 100 metres south of Pelistry Bay, A  Kingfisher was at Porth Hellick, a Spotted Flycatcher was in Lower Moors, a juvenile Little Gull was off Morning Pont and 15 Pied Flycatchers were scattered around the north of the island. Read more…

Friday 16th August 2013 IoS Bird Sightings

Bryher – The Short-toed Lark and the juvenile Dotterel were still on Shipman Head Down. At sea – Birders on the evening pelagic trip saw a Cory’s Shearwater a Great Shearwater, 200 European Storm-petrels, 2 Great Skuas, 5 Arctic Terns, 50 Common Dolphins, 3 Blue Sharks and 2 Ocean Sunfish.
