Birding highlights reported at the October Bird Log from across the Islands on Tuesday 4th October were:

Quail – 1 on the Garrison
Honey Buzzard – 1 touring Tresco, Bryher, Samson and St. Agnes
Black Kite – 1 on St. Mary’s
Hobby – 1 over Porth Hellick and 1 on Tresco
American Golden Plover – 1 on St. Mary’s airfield
*Least Sandpiper* – 1 found on south beach, Tresco before moving to the Abbey Pool and then the Great Pool
Pectoral Sandpiper – 3 Great Pool, Tresco
Buff-breasted Sandpiper – 4 on St. Mary’s airfield
Lesser Yellowlegs – 1 in Lower Moors and 1 on the Great Pool Tresco
Solitary Sandpiper – 1 on the Project Pool., St. Mary’s
Pomarine Skua – 1 from the Scillonian crossing
Wryneck – 7 St. Mary’s and 2 St. Agnes and 1 Tresco.
Short-toed Lark – 1 airfield
Subalpine Warbler – A female in ivy bushes behind the play park on the Garrison
Yellow-browed Warbler – 1 on St. Agnes and 1 Porthloo duck Pond
Firecrest – 1 on St. Agnes and 1 at Carreg Dhu Garden
Red-backed Shrike – 1 on Tresco
*Northern Waterthrush* – After not being seen since Sunday morning, the bird shoed at Project Pool at dawn and dusk.
Lapland Bunting – 1 on St. Agnes
Snow Bunting – 1 on St. Agnes
Little Bunting – 2 on St. Agnes
