Wilson’s Storm – petrel – 2 on the first evening pelagic trip 3.5 miles southwest of Bishop Rock (photo), were the earliest ever recorded in Scillonian waters.
European Storm – petrel – c100 on the evening pelagic trip.
Manx Shearwater – c2000 on the evening pelagic trip.
Sooty Shearwater – 2 on the evening pelagic trip.
Great Skua – 2 on the evening pelagic trip.
Common Tern – 20 on the evening pelagic trip.
Quail – 1 near the Nag’s Head, St. Agnes.
Golden Oriole – 1 on Porthloo Lane near Rosehill Memorial Gardens.
Marsh Harrier – 1 over fields down Middle Town Hill, St. Martin’s.
Hobby – 2 hawking insects in the Porth Hellick/Holy Vale area, 1 Lower Moors and 2 near the Daymark, St. Martin’s.
Swift – 3 over the north of St. Martin’s.
Short-beaked Common Dolphin – 6 on the evening pelagic trip.
Tuesday (26/05)
Common Rosefinch – A 1st year bird was on Barnaby Lane, Tresco.
Great White Egret – 1 heading southeast off Peninnis.
Great Northern Diver – 2 near Annet.
Swift – 1 over Middle Town, St. Martin’s.
Spotted Flycatcher – 1 on Bryher.
Wednesday (27/05)
Short-toed Lark – 1 in the evening on the eastern runway on the airfield.
Pochard – A female with 4 duckling was on Abbey Pool, Tresco.
Great Northern Diver – 1 flew north over Star Castle.
Golden Oriole – 1 in the trees behind the cricket pitch on St. Martin’s
Turtle Dove – 3 at Trenoweth.
There was a huge fall of Silver Y moths estimated at 15 to 20,000 and 4 to 6000 Painted Lady butterflies, just on Tresco and St. Martin’s.
Thursday (28/05)
Little Bittern – A male made a brief flight over the reeds opposite the ISBG hide in Lower Moors
Red-rumped Swallow – 1 over Porth Hellick and Carn Friars in the evening.
Quail – A female was on eastern runway of the airport in the evening.
Golden Oriole – 1 between the road and the hides at Porth Hellick.
Great Northern Diver – 1 of the Southard Isles.
Friday (29/05)
Hoopoe – 1 on St. Agnes.
Turtle Dove – 6 on St. Agnes.
Saturday (30/05)
Pomarine Skua – An adult was off Shipman Head, Bryher.
Golden Oriole – 2 were at Trenoweth (photo).
Sunday (31/05)
Golden Oriole – 1 still singing at Trenoweth.
Turtle Dove – 2 at Trenoweth.
Great Northern Diver – 1 in summer plumage was in the Roads.
