Recent Sightings

4th November 2009

St. Mary’s – 3 Black Redstarts and a first-winter Mediterranean Gull at Little Porth, single Black Redstarts at Giant’s Castle & Watermill, Merlin over the golf course, Golden Plover on the airfield, 7 Teal at Porth Hellick and 2 Firecrests in Lower Moors.

St. Agnes – 2 Bar-tailed Godwits on Periglis, a Firecrest in the Parsonage garden and 6 Black Redstarts on the island.

St. Mary’s – DUSKY WARBLER still at Helvear, seen briefly and heard several times. Yellow-browed Warbler at Content Farm, Merlin over Deep Point, Black Redstart at the Riding Stables at Pelistry, Jack Snipe at Porth Hellick Pool, 2 Brambling on Salakee Lane and a Mediterranean Gull in the Roads.

Tresco – 4 Spoonbills on Plumb Island and Long-tailed Duck on Abbey Pool. Also on the island were a Black Redstart, 3 Pied Wagtail, 11 Whooper Swan, 2 Little Grebe, 3 Pintail, a Wigeon, a Tufted Duck, 2 Shelduck, 2 Common Gull, 31 Redshank, 12 Greenshank,10 Goldcrest, 200+ Chaffinch, a very late Reed Warbler and a Yellow-browed Warbler.
