Tuesdays Birds were: A Golden Plover flew over Peninnis and a Whitethroat was on the headland. The Red-backed Shrike was still at Carn Friars and a Spotted Flycatcher, a Wryneck and a Whitethroat were also there. St Mary’s – The Tawny Owl reported earlier in the week was found at Carn Friars in a poor state of health and was taken into care. A Nightingale, a Wryneck (possibly 2), a White Wagtail and a  Common Redstart were all on Peninnis Head. The Garrison held Pied Flycatcher, Read more…

Mondays birds were: A Ruff was on the Great Pool, Tresco and a Pied Flycatcher was at Holy Vale. Over 70 Sandwich Terns were on the rocks at Porthcressa and a Spotted Flycatcher was on the coast path at Peninnis. Wednesdays birds were: A dark phase Arctic Skua was in St Mary’s Sound and the Lapland Bunting was still on Peninnis. Sundays Birds were: Pied Flycatchers were reported from the Garrison, Porthcressa, A juv Yellow-legged Gull flew over Pelistry and 5 Whimbrel, 2 Wheatear and a Willow Warbler were between Pelistry and Mount Todden. Thursdays Birds were: Two juv Peregrines flew over Porth Helick and a Swift was over Trenoweth. A White Wagtail was at Porthloo. Four Sooty Shearwaters were with Manx Shearwaters off Peninnis Head.
