Highlights form the first Bird Log of the year were

Arctic Warbler – 1 at Newford Duck Pond.

Purple Heron – 1 still at Lower Moors visiting Porth Hellick briefly in the afternoon.

Subalpine Warbler – 1 St. Agnes.

Short-toed Lark – 1 St. Agnes.

Bluethroat – 1 Lower Moors.

Barred Warbler – 1 St. Agnes.

Spotted Crake – The first of the year was seen on Shooters’ Pool, Lower Moors.

Red-breasted Flycatcher – 1 Newford Duck Pond and 1 St. Agnes.

Wryneck – 2 St. Agnes.

Yellow-browed Warbler – 5 on St. Mary’s, 2 on St. Martin’s, 2 on St. Agnes and 1 on Tresco.

Firecrest – 1 Carreg Dhu Gardens and 1 Dump clump.

Lapland Bunting – 1 Mount Todden.

Garganey – 1 Tresco.

Pale-bellied Bren Goose – 1  Tresco.

Common Scoter – 1 off Hugh Town quay and 2 off Bar Point.

Balearic Shearwater – 2 from the Scillonian on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s.

Golden Plover – 3 Porth Minnick.

Little Stint – 1 Tresco.

Jack Snipe – 2 Lower Moors, 1 on the Garrison and 1 on Tresco.

Black-tailed Godwit – 1 on Tresco.

Bar-tailed Godwit – 4 Porthloo and 2 on St. Agnes.

Arctic Skua – 1 from the Scillonian on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s.

Mediterranean Gull – An adult & 2 1st– winter Porthloo and 1 on Tresco.

Turtle Dove – 1 Salakee & 1 Hugh Town.

Long-eared Owl – 1 on the Garrison.

Kingfisher – 1 Lower Moors and 1 Porth Hellick.

Common Redstart – 1 St. Agnes.

Whinchat – 2 Lower Moors, 6 Porth Hellick Down and 1 St. Agnes.

Lesser Whitethroat – 1 Old Town Church, 1 Green Farm and 1 St. Agnes.

Spotted Flycatcher – 2 Maypole, 1 Porth Hellick, 1 Porth Mellon and 1 Holy Vale.

Pied Flycatcher – 2 Pelistry, 1 Tresco and 1 St. Agnes.
