Wilson’s Snipe –  A “probable) still on Lower Moors Pool.

Sora Rail – 1 still showing from the Seaward Hide on Porth Hellick Pool.

Western Bonelli’s Warbler – Birds still present on St. Martin’s and St. Agnes and now identified to species.

Red-backed Shrike – 1 still on the golf course.

Short-toed Lark  – 1 still around Peninnis Lighthouse.

Lapland Bunting – 1 on the  airfield and 1 on Wingletang Down, St, Agnes.

Common Rosefinch – On St. Agnes, 1 was at the eastern end of Porth Killier and it or another at Tamarisk Farm.

Rose-coloured Starling – A juvenile was on wires behind Old Town Inn.

Glossy Ibis – an estimated 5or 6 birds around the islands,

Snow Bunting – 1 around Porth Hellick.

Leach’ Storm-petrel –  2 on a daytime pelagic trip 10 miles south west, returning via Bishop Rock and the Western Isles.

European Storm-petrel –  35 on the pelagic trip.

Cory’s Shearwater –  180 on the pelagic trip.

Great Shearwater –  120 on the pelagic trip.

Sooty Shearwater –  11 on the pelagic trip.

Common Scoter – 1 near Teän.

Grey Phalarope –  About 200! on the pelagic trip, mostly close to Bishop Rock (photo).

Great Skua –  2 on the pelagic trip.

Puffin – 4 on the pelagic trip.

Common Scoter – 1 near Teän.

Grey Plover –  13 on the pelagic trip.

Purple Sandpiper –  2 on the pelagic trip.

Bar-tailed Godwit – 15+ on Teän.

Kingfisher – 3 on St. Mary’s and 1 on St. Agnes.

Turtle Dove – 1 still in the rolled  field at Telegraph and 1in the field opposite the entrance to the golf club.

Lesser Whitethroat – 1 near Shooters’ Pool, Lower Moors.

Common Whitethroat – 1 on Porth Hellick Loop.

Garden Warbler – 1 opposite Old Town Inn.

Wood Warbler – 1 near Shooters’ Pool, Lower Moors.

Yellow-browed Warbler – 1 briefly at Carn Gwaval, 2  in Lower Moors and 2 on the path between telegraph and the golf course.

Pied Flycatcher  – 1 on St. Martin’s.

Spotted Flycatcher  – 1 at the Shooting Club on the Garrison.

Whinchat – 1 in the field below the Garrison football pitch, 2 Deep Point and 5 on St. Martin’s.

Common Redstart – 1 Carn Friars Farm and 1 on St. Martin’s.

Grey Wagtail – 1 at Shooters’ Pool, Lower Moors.

Bottlenose Dolphin –  3 on the pelagic trip.

Short-beaked Common Dolphin –  c200 on the pelagic trip.

Atlantic Bluefin Tuna –  12 on the pelagic trip.

Blue shark –  8 on the pelagic trip.

Ocean Sunfish –  2 on the pelagic trip.

Monarch Butterfly – 1 on St. Martin’s

Lesser Emperor Dragonfly – 1 on Pungies Lane.

Monday (05/10)

Wilson’s Snipe –  A “presumed” still on Lower Moors Pool.

Sora Rail – 1 was still on Porth Hellick Pool and another! Was on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Wilson’s Storm-petrel – 1 was seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III.

Leach’s Storm-petrel – 2 were seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III.

Cory’s Shearwater c600 on a mini-pelagic trip around the Western Rocks and Bishop Rock.

Great Skua – 2 on a mini-pelagic trip around the Western Rocks and Bishop

Grey Phalarope – c180 on a mini-pelagic trip around the Western Rocks and Bishop

Glossy Ibis – 1 on St. Martin’s and 3 or 4 on St. Mary’s.

Bar-tailed Godwit – 2 on Porthloo Beach.

Harrier sp – A ringtail flew High over Holy Vale and then the airfield

Kingfisher – 2 on St. Mary’s and 1 on St. Agnes.

Lesser Whitethroat – 2 by the Hilda Quick hide. Lower Moors.

Siberian Chiffchaff – 1 opposite the junction to the airport and 1 in Lower Moors.

Yellow-browed Warbler – On St. Mary’s 1 in the sunken Garden, 1 opposite the junction to the airport, 1 Longstone, 1 Shooters’ Pool., Lower Moos, 1 Newford Duck Pond and Content Lane. On St, Martin’s 1 on the Plains and 1 on Little Arthur Farm. St. Martin’s. on Bryher 1 was in Apple Tree Glade.

Firecrest – 1 still at the Rocky Hill chalets.

Mistle Thrush  – 1 on the Golf Course.

Spotted Flycatcher – 1 in Carreg Dhu Gardens.

Pied Flycatcher – 1 on St. Martin’s and 1 on St. Agnes.

Whinchat  – 4 on Bryher and 1 on St. Martin’s.

Black Redstart   – The first of the autumn was 1 on Little Porth.

Fin Whale – 2 on the mini-pelagic, 1 of which was lunge-feeding alongside the boat. The photo of 1 with a Common Dolphin gives an idea of its immense size (photos).

Minke whale –  1 on the mini-pelagic.

Common Dolphin –  c100 on the mini-pelagic.

Atlantic Bluefin Tuna –  20 on the mini-pelagic.

Tuesday (06/1)

Wilson’s Snipe –  1 was still on Lower Moors Pool (photo).

Sora Rail – The juvenile was  still on Porth Hellick Pool and the adult was still on the Great Pool, Tresco.

American Pipit – 1 was on the beach at St. Warna’s Cove, St. Agnes (photo).

American Golden Plover  – 1 flew over Abbey Pool and Bryher before settling on Castle Down, Tresco. 1 flew over Salakee Farm towards the airfield late afternoon.

Glossy Ibis – 1 flew over Old Town Bay and into Lower Moors, 2 still in at field by the “Moos” Normandy, 1 still on St. Martin’s and a very confiding bird behind Tresco Gallery (photo).

Cory’s Shearwater  – 3 flew west past Peninnis Head and 8 in Scilly waters seen from the Scillonian III.

Sooty Shearwater  – 1 flew west past Peninnis Head.

Caspian Gull  – 2 were in Porth Hellick Bay.

Grey Phalarope – 9 in Scilly waters seen from the Scillonian III.

Golden Plover  – 3 on Castle Down, Tresco.

Grey Plover  – 2 on the rocks between the Flats and St. Lawrence’s Bay.

Bar-tailed Godwit – 2 at Porthloo/Porth Mellon and 1 at Stoney Porth, Bryher.

Whimbrel – 1 at Porthloo.

Rustic Bunting – 1 on Wingletang Down flew to sunflower seed at the end of Barnaby Lane, St. Agnes.

Red-backed Shrike – 1 still on the golf course and 1 still at the bulb dump, Browarth. St. Agnes.

Lapland Bunting – 1 on the path from Carn Near to the Great Pool, Tresco.

Rose-coloured Starling – 1 still on wires behind Old Town Inn.

Little Grebe – 2 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Hobby – 1 flew over the Great Pool, Tresco.

Kingfisher – 1 Old Town Bay and 1 Porth Mellon.

Wryneck – 1 on Peninnis.

Common Whitethroat – 1 on St. Agnes.

Lesser Whitethroat – 2 by Shooters’ Pool.

Siberian Chiffchaff  – 1 Lowr Moors.

Yellow-browed Warbler – 3+in Lower Moors,1 in Holy Vale, 2 Longstone, 3 Tresco, 1 St. Agnes and 1 at Little Arthur Farm, St. Martin’s.

Firecrest – 1 still at Rocky Hill Chalets and 1 in oaks near the entrance arch to Holy Vale winery.

Spotted Flycatcher – 2 in the Community Orchard at Trenoweth.

Pied Flycatcher – 1 in Carreg Dhu Gardens and 1 in the Middle Town pines, St. Martin’s.

Black Redstart  – 1 on the Church roof on Tresco.

Siskin – 10 flew west from Tresco Gardens Cafe and 1 Longstone.

Silver-striped Hawkmoth – 1 trapped at Peacehaven, Watermill Cove.

Lesser Emperor Dragonfly – 1 by Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Wednesday (07/10)

Wilson’s Snipe –  1 was still on Lower Moors Pool.

Sora Rail – The juvenile was  still on Porth Hellick Pool.

American Pipit – 1 was on the beach at St. Warna’s Cove, St. Agnes.

American Golden Plover  – 1 flew over Holy Vale towards Longstone.

Barred Warbler – 1 by New Grimsby Quay, Tresco.

Red-backed Shrike – 1 still on the golf course and 1 still at the bulb dump, Browarth. St. Agnes.

Common Rosefinch  – 1 still on Gugh.

Rose-coloured Starling – 1 still on wires behind Old Town Inn.

Glossy Ibis – 2 sin 2  different fields  by the “Moos” Normandy and 1 still in a field near the New Inn, Tresco.

Corncrake  – A “probable” walked across the road at Newford Duck Pond.

Lapland Bunting – 1 still on the airfield,

Golden Plover – 1 in a field at the southern end of King Edward’s Road, Peninnis.

Jack Snipe – 1 on Lower Moors Pool.

Bar-tailed Godwit  – 2 on Porthloo Beach.

Whimbrel – 2 on Porthloo Beach.

Kingfisher – 1 on Shooters’ Pool, Lower Moors.

Turtle Dove  – 1 in a tomato field near the New Inn, Tresco.

Skylark – 9 on Peninnis.

Yellow-browed Warbler – 3+ on St. Mary’s and 2 on Tresco.
