Iceland Gull, Porthloo, 06.01.13, Martin Goodey

St Mary’s – A Richard’s Pipit was found near Longstone this morning and spent the afternoon in a field between Longstone and Sunnyside. A 1st winter Iceland Gull was at Porth Loo during the morning with an adult Iceland Gull seen on Tresco from McFarland down in the afternoon. At least seven Common Gulls were at Porth Loo in the afternoon, a new arrival as less than one a day had been noted recently. Thirty-seven Common Scoters were seen from Innisidgen along with four Great Northern Divers. A Whimbrel was at Pendrathen and four Crossbills were at Longstone. That evening two Long-eared Owls were at Lower Moors at dusk. The Black Redstart was at Porth Loo again.

Roads – Five Purple Sandpipers were near Samson today along with the Ruddy Shelduck and a Knot
