Buff-breasted Sandpiper, Airfield, 31.08.12, Kris Webb

St. Mary’s – The Buff-breasted Sandpiper was till on the airfield, a Tree Pipit was at Telegraph and 2 Green Sandpipers were at Porth Hellick. A Pied Flycatcher was at Trenoweth and a Spotted Flycatcher was on Pungie’s Lane. 4 Crossbills were on the Garrison and a Whinchat, a Firecrest, a Spotted Flycatcher & a Pied Flycatcher were at Mount Todden. A warbler on the eastern side of Peninnis reported as a Melodious Warbler was re-identified from photographs as an Icterine Warbler.

Belated news from Monday – a Wood Warbler was reported on Bryher, on examination of photographs it turned out to be a Bonelli’s Warbler, no call was heard so it could not be determined whether it was Western or Eastern Bonelli’s Warbler.
