A Lesser Redpoll over Longstone, St Mary’s and 12 Turnstone on St. Agnes were the only birds of note on the islands today

Tresco – Tufted Duck (2) and Swift (2). Herons continue to increase with ten each of Grey Herons and Little Egrets on Tresco. St. Mary’s – Common Swift over Peninnis.
Scilly Pelagics – Birds seen from this evenings pelagic 6 miles south of St Mary’s included: Sabine’s Gull (2), Balearic Shearwater, Manx Shearwater (5), Bonxie (2) and Storm Petrel (50+).
Only birds of note today were a Whimbrel at Hugh Town Quay and two Tufted Ducks on Tresco.
St Mary’s – Common Crossbills again today at Longstone (50+) and Trenoweth (10).
St Mary’s – Only report today was of a Common Sandpiper in Hugh Town. Scilly Pelagic – European Storm-Petrel (15) and Manx Shearwater (15) on this evenings pelagic. Also on the pelagic 2 Blue Sharks, one over 7 ft and 100 lbs+!
The first day of the month saw a female Red-backed Shrike on Peninnis Head. Bryher had a Spotted Flycatcher and Tree Pipit and Tresco saw two Lesser Redpolls, a Marsh Harrier and a Common Buzzard. St Agnes had a male Black-eared Wheatear showing well at Little Porth Askin in the afternoon and evening and a female Red-backed Shrike at the end of Barnaby Lane. (more…)
