American Wigeon, 1st winter drake, Tresco (Bob Flood)

Highlights from Thursday’s log:

American Wigeon – A 1st winter male and a female were on Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Dusky Warbler – 1 was heard calling at Covean, St. Agnes.

Rose-coloured Starling – 1 Carn Friars also seen near Tolman’s café.

Richard’s Pipit – 1 flew over the Turk’s Head, St. Agnes.

Corncrake – 1 was flushed near the Camp site on St. Martin’s.

Ortolan Bunting – 1 on St. Agnes.

Red-breasted Flycatcher – 1 at Rowesfield crossroads ,Tresco.

Whooper Swan – 4 on Tresco.

Snow Bunting – 2 on the airfield.

Ring Ouzel – 1 Tresco and 1 St. Agnes.

Yellow-browed Warbler – 3 St. Mary’s, 2 St. Agnes, 2 St. Martin’s and 1 on Bryher.

Firecrest – 7 on St. Mary’s and 2 on St. Agnes.

Hobby – 2 on Tresco..

Long/Short-eared Owl – A bird that was one of these two species was seen briefly in the pines on Sandy Lane.

Wigeon – 1 Tresco.

Shoveler – 2 Tresco.

Little Grebe – 2 Tresco.

Merlin – 1 Content and 1 St. Agnes.

Grey Plover – 1 Tresco.

Bar-tailed Godwit – 7 Tresco.

Great Skua – 1 past Tresco and 1 past St. Martin’s.

Mediterranean Gull – 1 Tresco.

Whinchat – 2 on St. Martin’s and 1 on Gugh.

Brambling – 2 Content.

Reed Bunting – 2 Tresco.
