The highlights of Wednesday’s log were:

PALLAS’S GRASSHOPPER WARBLER – 1 was found early in the afternoon on Gugh and seen by a few lucky birders before it disappeared. This is the first record for Scilly and takes the Scilly list to 439.

Purple Heron – After not being seen for a couple of days, it was seen at Lower Moors late evening.

Short-toed Lark – 1 still on St. Agnes.

Rose-coloured Starling – 1 on the Garrison.

Spotted Crake – 1 at Porth Hellick.

Red-necked Grebe -1 still off Higher Town, St. Martin’s.

Wryneck – 1 Borough Farm, St. Mary’s.

Yellow-browed Warbler – 13 on St. Mary’s, 2 on Tresco, 2 on St. Agnes and 1 on St. Martin’s.

Firecrest – 1 Carreg Dhu Gardens, 1 at Higher Moors and 2 in Lower Moors.

Lapland Bunting – 1 on Peninnis and 1 at Porth Hellick.

Snow Bunting – 1 on Peninnis and 1 on St. Agnes.

Garganey – 1 still on Tresco.

Yellow-legged Gull – 1 on St. Agnes.

Great Northern Diver – 1 past St. Agnes and 2 off Watermill.

Little Grebe – 1 in Lower Moors.

Common Scoter – 5 in The Roads.

Balearic Shearwater – 1 past St. Martin’s.

Merlin – 2 on St. Mary’s and 1 on St. Martin’s.

Jack Snipe – 2 Lower Moors, 4 Porth Hellick and 1 Tresco.

Black-tailed Godwit – 1 Tresco

Bar-tailed Godwit – 2 Tresco.

Whimbrel – 1 Porthloo, 1 Old Town and 4 Tresco.

Mediterranean Gull – 1 Little Porth.

Turtle Dove – 1 Airport Lane.

Short-eared Owl – 1 on St. Agnes and Gugh.

Kingfisher – 2 Porth Hellick.

Black Redstart – 6 on St. Mary’s and 1 on St. Agnes.

Whinchat – 1 Lower Moors, 2 St. Martin’s and 1 Gugh.

Ring Ouzel – 4 on St. Mary’s and 1 on St. Agnes.

Mistle Thrush – 1 Higher Moors and 1 Garrison.

Lesser Whitethroat – 1 on the Garrison and 1 on St. Agnes.

Pied Flycatcher – 1 on St. Agnes.

Brambling – 1 on the Garrison.

Crossbill – 1 over Hugh Town.
