Iberian Chiffchaff, Lower Moors, 24.04.13, Martin Goodey

St. Mary’s – An Iberian Chiffchaff found at 07:30 in Lower Moors was a welcome addition to the Scillies’ List of most Local birders. It was only the second record for Scilly, the first was in Holy Vale in April 1992. Both Woodchat Shrikes were still present. The female along the coastal path near Pelistry Bay and the male in the gorse below the Telegraph Radio Tower. The Pallid Swift was seen over Porth Hellick, both brief visits once in the morning and once late afternoon. A Short-toed Lark was on the Golf Course, 2 Common Swifts were at Telegraph and the first Common Sandpiper of the year was at Pelistry. The first Reed and Sedge Warblers have arrived in the last few days.
