St. Mary’s – How many Red-rumped Swallows were on the island is anyone’s guess. During the day, 1 was seen at Helvear, 1 was at Watermill, 1 was at Carn Friars, 3 were near Maypole, 2 were at Tolman’s and 2 were at Porth Hellick Pool. In the evening 4 were hawking over Porth Hellick Pool along with 250+ Barn Swallows, 60+ House Martins and 15 Sand Martins. A guestimate of 6 would not be unreasonable. An unseasonal pair of Siskin were at Helvear, a Short-eared Owl was on Peninnis, a female Marsh Harrier was at Porth Hellick and 12 Whimbrel & a Bar-tailed Godwit were on Taylor’s Island, Porthloo. Both the Eider at Pendrethen and the Pink-footed Goose at Salakee were still present.

Annet – 10 Purple Sandpipers.
