Friday 10th

St. Mary’s – The Blue-winged Teal was still on Shooters’ Pool and a second-winter Iceland Gull was at Porth Mellon.

Saturday 11th

St. Mary’s – The Blue-winged Teal & a Jack Snipe were in Lower Moors and a second-winter Iceland Gull was at Porth Mellon. The Dusky Warbler was again at Harry’s Walls and a Firecrest was in a garden on High Lanes. 2 Long-eared Owls and a Kingfisher were at Porth Hellick.

Sunday 12th

St. Mary’s – The Blue-winged Teal was still on Shooters’ Pool and the Dusky Warbler was still at Harry’s Walls. Offshore, 5 Slavonian Grebes, 9 Great Northern Divers, a Black-throated Diver, a Pale-bellied and 6 Dark-bellied Brent Geese were seen from Innisidgen and a Black-throated and 16 Great Northern Divers were seen from Star Castle. The first-winter drake Eider was off Shark’s Pit.

Tresco – With one of the Association boats doing trips a couple of local birders took the opportunity to visit Tresco. It was a worthwhile outing, another Dusky Warbler and 2 Bullfinches were seen along Pool Road, Bullfinch is a real Scilly rarity! A Spoonbill was on South Beach, a first-winter Mediterranean Gull was in Pentle Bay and a Lesser Redpoll was in Well Cover. On the Great Pool were 3 Pintails (2 males & a female),a drake Pochard, a drake Scaup a female Tufted Duck and a Little Grebe

Nothing reported on Monday, Tuesday’s birds were:

St. Mary’s – The Northern Waterthrush put in its first appearance since Feb 3, again near the old corrugated tin hut in Lower Moors, also there was the Blue-winged Teal on the main pool. A Black Redstart was on Old Town Beach, 2 Iceland Gulls & an Eider were in Porth Mellon and 2 Pink-footed Geese flew over Pelistry

Wednesday 15th

St. Mary’s – The only report was of the Blue-winged Teal on Shooter’s Pool, Lower Moors.

Tresco – The first Glaucous Gull of the year flew from Old Grimsby past the Blockhouse towards Teän. A Scaup was on the Great Pool, and 2 Long-tailed Ducks & 4 Black-necked Grebes were offshore.

Thursday 16th

St. Mary’s – The Blue-winged Teal was still on Shooters’ Pool and a second-winter Iceland Gull was on Porth Mellon.

Friday

St. Mary’s – The Northern Waterthrush was again seen near the tin hut in Lower Moors and a juvenile Iceland Gull was at Porthcressa
