Tuesday – 50 Sandwich Terns and 2 Mediterranean Gulls were on rocks in Porthcressa Bay. A Common Snipe and a Sanderling were in Lower Moors.
Wednesday – 9 Greenshanks were on Porth Hellick Pool and 3 Golden Plover flew past Giant’s Castle, where there was a Whimbrel on the rocks. A Sooty Shearwater and a Great Skua were seen on a round the islands boat trip.
Thursday – A Baird’s Sandpiper was found at the southwest end of the Great Pool, Tresco. On St. Mary’s 10 Sandwich Terns, a Yellow-legged Gull and 2 Mediterranean Gulls were in Porthcressa Bay, with 5 more Mediterranean Gulls at Porthloo. 4 Green & 2 Common Sandpipers were on Porth Hellick Pool.
The evening short-range pelagic trip was excellent. The highlights were: 14 Wilson’s Storm-petrels, 43 Great Shearwaters and 6 Sooty Shearwaters. In the water were at least 20 Common Dolphins and a Porbeagle & 2 Blue Sharks were caught, tagged and released
