Friday – The Baird’s Sandpiper was still on the Great Pool, Tresco, a Pied Flycatcher was at Longstone and the female Merlin was at Buzza.

The first night of the birders’ special pelagic weekends produced lots of European Storm-petrels, 2 Wilson’s Storm-petrels, 1200 Manx, 200 Great, 75 Sooty & 3 Cory’s Shearwaters, a Yellow-legged Gull, 3 Great Skuas, 3 Grey Phalaropes and 200+ Common Dolphins.

Saturday – A Common Whitethroat was at Mount Todden, 3 Common Sandpipers were on Porthcressa Beach, 8 Greenshanks & a Redshank were at Porth Hellick, 10 Great Shearwaters & 6 Sooty Shearwaters flew past Peninnis Head and 2 Great Skuas were odd Deep Point. Birders who braved a very wet & windy daytime pelagic trip were rewarded with 50+ European Storm-petrels, a Wilson’s Storm-petrel, 200+ Great, 75 Sooty, a Cory’s, a Balearic & 100s of Manx Shearwaters, a Great Skua ,lots of Common Dolphins and a Blue Shark.

Sunday – The Baird’s Sandpiper was still on the Great Pool, Tresco, a Pied Flycatcher was at Rosehill, a Merlin flew over Buzza towards Lower Moors, where there was a Green Sandpiper and a Common Whitethroat. A Common Sandpiper was on Toll’s Island, 2 Common Sandpipers & a Common Snipe were on Porth Hellick Pool and a Common & 2 Mediterranean Gulls were at Porthloo. The highlights of the daytime pelagic were: 2 Wilson’s Storm-petrels, 60 Great, 25 Sooty & 4 Balearic Shearwaters and 2 Grey Phalaropes.

Monday – The Baird’s Sandpiper was still on the Great Pool, Tresco as were 6 Greenshank, 5 Redshank and 2 Pochards. The evening short-range pelagic trip produced 30 European Storm-petrels, 2 Wilson’s Storm-petrels, 12Great, 15 Soot,  a Balearic & 3 Cory’s Shearwaters, a  Great Skua and 100 Common Dolphins.

Tuesday – A Wheatear was on Porth Hellick Down with another at Giant’s Castle where lot of Manx Shearwaters and 2 European Storm-petrels flew past. 2 Greenshanks, 2 Common Sandpipers & a Kingfisher were at Porth Hellick Pool and a juvenile Common Swift was over Carreg Dhu Gardens. Sighting on the joint sharking. Birding evening trip included 2 Wilson’s Storm-petrels, 500 Manx, 20 Sooty, 15 Great, 4 Cory’s & 2 Balearic Shearwaters, a dark-phase Arctic Skua, 5 Arctic Terns and 40+ Common Dolphins. A Blue Shark was caught, tagged and released.
