1st April – An Iceland Gull was at Porthcressa. Two Iceland Gulls and a Whimbrel at Porthloo.

2nd April – 4 Wheatear, a Willow Warbler and c10 Chiffchaffs were on the first fairway of the golf course. 4 Chiffchaffs were on the Garrison. Approx 30 Chiffchaffs and 5 Willow Warblers were in pines at Telegraph. A Hawfinch was on Carn Friars Lane before flying towards the airport. A Whitethroat was singing briefly at the back of Shooters Pool. 2 Redwing were at Normandy and c8 Chiffchaff were on the strandline at Watermill. A Wheatear was in fields below Green Farm. There were c 3 Willow Warbler and c10 Chiffchaffs at Porth Hellick and 2 Iceland Gulls remained at Porthloo. A Willow Warbler was at Treloweth and a Merlin flew over Lower Moors. A GN Diver was in Porthcressa Bay.

3rd April – The Snowy Owl was reported over Cromwells Castle flying towards St Helen’s. A Brambling, a Black-tailed Godwit and 25+ Chiffchaffs were on St Agnes. A Swallow and an Iceland Gull were at Porthloo. And Iceland Gull was at Watermill late afternoon. A Swallow flew in off the sea at Porth Hellick. A Yellow-legged Gull was at Little Porth. 3 Swallows were on Bryher.

4th April – 2 Iceland Gulls were at Porthloo again. A Sand Martin was at Lower Moors briefly and 3 others were with a Swallow at Higher Moors. A female Wheatear was at Toll’s Porth and 2 Willow Warblers were at Newford Duck Pond. A Swallow and a Merlin were at Giant’s Castle. A Pheasant, a Little Egret and an Iceland Gull were an odd combination feeding together at Porthloo Beach.

5th April – The 2 Iceland Gulls were at Porthloo at different times of the day. 3 Little Egret, 3 Greenshank, a Willow Warbler and a Blackcap were at Porth Hellick. 2 Swallows were over the Garrison and a Water rail was on the campsite there. Two Slavonian Grebes were unusual off Porthcressa and remained all day. A Greenshank and a Curlew were at Porth Killier. A Yellow-legged Gull was on the golf course and later on the tip, a Swallow was at Browarth Point and a female Wheatear was at Long Point. The Long-tailed Duck was at New Grimsby, Tresco and 12 Sand Martins were on the island. An Iceland Gull was at Morning Point and a sandwich Tern was at Pelistry. A Black Redstart was at Porthcressa.

6th April – An Iceland Gull, a Sandwich Tern, a GN Diver and a male Black Redstart were at Porthcressa. The 2 Iceland Gulls were at Porthloo. Another Iceland Gull was on the golf course with a Yellow-legged Gull and 14 Linnets. 2 Sandwich Terns and a Med Gull was at Porthcressa. There were good numbers of Manx Shearwaters off Porth Hellick and a House Martin and 2 Swallows flew over Higher Moors towards the airport. 2 Wheatears were at Penninis and a Firecrest was on St Agnes.

7th April – A Greenshank was at Lower Moors. 4 Canada Geese flew over Normandy and a Blackcap was in a garden there. A male and female Blackcap and 2 Willow Warblers were at Porth Hellick and 100’s of Manx Shearwaters were offshore there. 280 Manx Shearwaters were off Deep Point and also a Common Dolphin. A female Wheatear was at Church Point and a Wheatear was at Porth Hellick Down. A Peregrine was over Porthloo and 4 Swallows were seen there. A Common Buzzard was circling over the Abbey on Tresco, viewed from the Strand on St Mary’s. Two Wheatears and 3 House Martin’s were at Penninis. A possible Dartford Warbler was heard on the Garrison.

8th April – A Sedge warbler was at Porth Hellick and a Yellow Wagtail flew over King Charles Castle. A Common Sandpiper was at Old Town and a Little Ringed Plover was on the airfield. A male Ring Ouzel and a Hoopoe were on Bryher. A Hawfinch, a Black Redstart, 2 Merlin, 2 Tufted Ducks, a Pochard, a House Martin, 2 Swallows and a Pintail were on Tresco. An Iceland Gull and 2 Swallows were on St Martin’s.
