lack-tailed Godwit, Porth Hellick Pool (Martin Goodey)

Friday’s birds were:

At sea – 24 European Storm-petrels, a Cory’s, 7 Great and 8 Sooty Shearwaters were seen from the Scillonian III on the late afternoon crossing from St. Mary’s to Penzance.

Saturday’s were:

St. Mary’s – A Great Shearwater was off Peninnis Head and a Black-tailed Godwit & a Water Rail were on Porth Hellick Pool.

Sunday’s were:

St. Mary’s – A Black-tailed Godwit and 9 Greenshanks were on Porth Hellick Pool, nearby a Dunlin was on Porth Hellick Down.

Monday’s birds were:

At sea – A short-range evening pelagic trip aboard the M.V. Sapphire proved to be well worthwhile. Bird seen included: 7+ Wilson’s Storm-petrels, 50+ European Storm-petrels, 29 Cory’s Shearwaters, 3 Great Shearwaters and a Sooty Shearwater. Also on the trip 2 Blue Sharks were caught, tagged and released.
