The 2 Black-necked Grebes were again in Town Bay all week and up to 2 Yellow-browed Warblers were seen or heard in Lower Moors on most days. Only about 3 Black Redstarts seemed to be wintering on St Mary’s. Up to 3 Spoonbills were seen on Green Island, Samson during the week. Great Northern Diver numbers seemed to increase a little with 6+ reported on Sunday (8/1).

A Great Spotted Woodpecker was heard only at Carn Friars on New Year’s Day.

Tuesday (3/1) was a good day with a Waxwing seen flying over Parting Carn, a Red-throated Diver and 3 Slavonian Grebes in Crow Sound, 10+ Common Scoters around the Eastern Isles, the Shoveler at Newford Duck Pond again and a Whimbrel at Pendrathen.

A Black-throated Diver was reported in Crow Sound on Sunday (8/1), when the Whimbrel was again at Pendrathen.
