2 Black-necked Grebes were in Town Bay all week, with 3 on Sunday (11/12).

On both Sunday (11/12) and Monday (12/12) a Yellow-browed Warbler, Siberian Chiffchaff and 2 Firecrests were in Lower Moors. The Wood Sandpiper was again in Lower Moors on Monday (12/12) but has not been reported since. Also on Monday the Cetti’s Warbler and a Yellow-browed Warbler were at Porth Hellick, whilst a female Shoveler at Newford Duck Pond was a very unusual sighting for St Mary’s.

There were no more reports until Friday (16/12) when a Firecrest was seen at Porthloo.

On Saturday (17/12) a probable Surf Scoter was reported in Crow Sound where there was also an impressive count of 6 Slavonian Grebes. 15 Common Scoter were in Tresco Channel and a Spoonbill was seen on Taylor’s Island, Porthloo before flying off to the more usual site off Samson. A Yellow-browed Warbler was still in Lower Moors.
