Wednesday 29th July to Saturday 1st August 2015 IoS Bird Sightings

Wednesday’s birds were:

St. Mary’s – A Mediterranean Gull was at Porthcressa.

At sea – A Pomarine Skua was seen from the Scillonian III on the evening crossing from St. Mary’s to Penzance.

Thursday’s birds were:

St. Agnes – A Green Sandpiper and a Whimbrel.

Tresco – The Common Buzzard was over the cricket ground.

Friday’s birds were:

St. Agnes – 3 Common Swifts.

At sea – A Sooty Shearwater, 50+ European Storm-petrels and a Great Skua were seen on a short-range pelagic trip in the evening.

Saturdays birds were:

St. Mary’s – A Green Sandpiper was in Lower Moors.

At sea – An daytime short-range pelagic trip produced a Balearic & 6 Sooty Shearwaters, 30+ European Storm-petrels, 2 Great Skuas, an Ocean Sunfish and 6 Blue Sharks
