St. Mary’s – An adult Mediterranean Gull was seen off Morning Point on the Garrison and a second-summer Mediterranean Gull was in Porthcressa Bay. A short trip to the far side of Annet to look for a putative Albatross (reported by a local boatman) proved unsuccessful. However there was compensation in the shape of 500+ Manx Shearwaters, a Balearic Shearwater, a Sooty Shearwater and 2 Great Shearwaters ½ mile northwest of Annet. The Balearic Read more…
St. Mary’s – A Common Swift at Porthloo and a second-summer Mediterranean Gull off Peninnis. Annet – a 1000+ Manx Shearwaters offshore.
Bryher – A Hooded Crow and a Whimbrel. At sea – Seen on a short-range pelagic trip were a Wilson’s Storm-petrel. 200 European Storm-petrels, 100 Manx shearwaters and 3 Blue Sharks.
St. Mary’s – The only report was 38 Sandwich Terns at Porthcressa
Inter-island waters – 2 Balearic Shearwaters that are moving around with about 500 Manx Shearwaters were seen off Annet and Samson. St. Mary’s – 5 Common Sandpipers, a Green Sandpiper 2 Greenshanks and 4 Common Swifts were at Porth Hellick. Tresco – 8 Greenshanks, a Redshank, 3 Green Sandpipers, 8 Little Egrets and 3 Grey Herons.
