Saturday 9th July 2011 Ios Bird Reports

St. Mary’s – A Common Sandpiper on Porth Hellick Pool, 4 Curlew & a Redshank at Porthloo and a Whimbrel & a Dunlin past Deep Point. At sea – A Wilson’s Storm-petrel and 3 Cory’s Shearwaters were seen from a morning shark fishing trip.

Wednesday 6th July 2011 Ios Bird Reports

St. Mary’s – 130+ Cory’s Shearwaters passed Deep Pont, Giants’ Castle and Peninnis Head, also passed were 4 Sooty & 400+ Manx Shearwaters,a Great Skua and 4 European Storm-petrels. St. Mary’s – A Common Sandpiper was on Porth Hellick Pool and a Hobby flew over Innisidgen. Samson – The female Marsh Harrier was still present.

Monday 4th July 2011 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’s – 2 Hobbies were seen several times at various locations on the island. 2 Swifts were over Hugh Town, 2 Greenshanks were on Porth Hellick Pool and a Wheatear was on Salakee Down. Tresco – 3 Greenshanks, a Redshank, 11 Grey Herons, 17 Black-headed Gulls and 4 Swifts
