*** NORTHERN PARULA *** – 1 behind the cricket pitch on St. Martin’s, unfortunately only was only seen by the finder ana could not be relocated. This is the 7th record for Scilly and the first since 1995. The las British Record was in 2010.

Pectoral Sandpiper – 1 still at Porth Hellick Pool.

Cory’s Shearwater – c300 on a pelagic trip to Bishop Rock and Poll Bank and 3 seen in Scilly waters seen from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s.

Great Shearwater – c50 on a pelagic trip to Bishop Rock and Poll Bank.

Sooty Shearwater – 10 on a pelagic trip to Bishop Rock and Poll Bank.

Great Skua – 10 on a pelagic trip to Bishop Rock and Poll Bank.

Grey Phalarope – 4 on a pelagic trip to Bishop Rock and Poll Bank (photo).

Curlew Sandpiper – 1 on Periglis Beach, St. Agnes.

Red-breasted Flycatcher – 1 in pines above Middle Town, St. Martin’s.

Wryneck – 1 still on the west side of Peninnis.

Ring Ouzel – 1 at Longstone and 1 at Little Arthur Farm, St. Martin’s.

Lesser Whitethroat – 1 on St. Agnes.

Common Nightingale – 1 still High Cross Lane north of the airfield.

Whinchat – 1 St. Martin’s.

Pied Flycatcher – 3 on St. Mary’s and 3 on St. Agnes.

Spotted Flycatcher – 4 on St. Agnes.

Tree Pipit – 1 on St. Agnes.

Common Dolphin – 10 on a pelagic trip to Bishop Rock and Poll Bank.

Sunday (24/09)

Pectoral Sandpiper – 1 still at Porth Hellick Pool.

Cattle Egret – 5 on St. Agnes cricket pitch.

Cory’s Shearwater – 105 flew west past Peninnis between 08:40 & 09:40.

Sooty Shearwater – 1 flew west past Peninnis between 08:40 & 09:40.

Balearic Shearwater – 1 flew west past Peninnis between 08:40 & 09:40.

Manx Shearwater – 17 flew west past Peninnis between 08:40 & 09:40.

Curlew Sandpiper – 3 St. Agnes.

Common Sandpiper – 1 Pendrathen.

Red-breasted Flycatcher – 1 still in pines above Middle Town, St. Martin’s.

Ring Ouzel – 1 still at Longstone.

Firecrest – 1 Carreg Dhu.

Common Nightingale – 1 still High Cross Lane north of the airfield.

Pied Flycatcher – 2 St. Mary’s, 1 St. Agnes and 1 St. Martin’s.

Yellow Wagtail – 3 flew over Longstone.

Monday (25/09)

*** BOBOLINK *** – 1 flew towards Coastguards, St. Agnes (photo). This is the 15th record for Scilly, but the firs-t since 2008.

Northern Parula – The bird seen behind St. Martin’s cricket pitch on Saturday was there again and showed well to everyone (photo).

Red-eyed Vireo – 2 more birds, 1in Appletree Glade, Bryher and 1 on the coastal path just east of St. Martin’s Campsite (photo)

Cory’s Shearwater – 136 in Scilly waters, seen from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s & 17 on the return trip and 25 past Horse Point, St, Agnes.

Great Shearwater – 1 in Scilly waters, seen from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s.
