Long-tailed Skua – Sadly, the adult seen on Saturday was found dead on Porth Hellick Down.

Pink-footed Goose – 9 in fields above the cricket pitch on Tresco.

Glaucous Gull – 1 that flew over New Grimsby, Tresco was identified as a different bird to the recent individual on St. Mary’s. 

Cattle Egret – 6 visiting cattle fields at Trewince & Longstone and 2 in fields above the cricket pitch on Tresco.

Spoonbill – 1 on Samson.

Lapwing – 1 on St. Agnes.

Bar-tailed Godwit – 5 in Pentle Bay, Tresco.

Yellow-legged Gull – An adult was on Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Humpback Whale – 2 off the airport near Gilstone Rocks.

Tuesday (21/02) 

Slavonian Grebe – 2 showing off Innisidgen.

Cattle Egret – 6 in a field west of Longstone, then 3 flew towards Trewince.

Spoonbill – 2 on Samson shoreline.

Common Scoter – 5 off Innisidgen.

Great Northern Diver – 3 off Innisidgen.

Golden Plover – 2 on the golf Course

Purple Sandpiper – 6flew from the Gilstone Rock, Old Town Bay to Church Point.

Whimbrel – 10 at Innisidgen.

Great Spotted Woodpecker – 1 in Longstone Cottage Garden.

Firecrest – 1 in Longstone Cottage Garden.

Wednesday (22/02)

Richard’s Pipit – 1 still showing very well by the airport terminal buildings (photo}.

Slavonian Grebe – 2 still showing off Innisidgen.

Cattle Egret – 1 in a field near Longstone.

Spoonbill – 2 on Samson.

Lapwing –1 flew over Tolman.

Cetti’s Warbler –1 calling between the Skate Park and the Standing Stones Field.

Thursday (23/02)

Cattle Egret – 6 in a field at Four Lanes which then moved to Trewince.

Shoveler –1 on Porth Hellick Pool.

Common Buzzard –1 flew west over Longstone.

Mediterranean Gull – 9 at Little Porth.

Fieldfare –1 at Watermill Lane.

Pied/White Wagtail – 1 mixed flock of 1o Alba wagtails (containing a least 4 White) at Porth Cressa.

Grey Wagtail – 1 at Watermill Lane.

Friday (24/02)

Cattle Egret – 5 in a field west of Longstone Bungalow.

Common Buzzard –1 over Porth Hellick House.

Merlin – 1 at Watermill Cove.

Firecrest – 1 in Car.reg Dhu Gardens

Black Redstart – 1 on Porth Cressa Beach.

Saturday (25/02)

Cattle Egret – 6 in a field west of Longstone Bungalow.

Spoonbill –2 on Samson.

Common Buzzard – 1 flew northwest over Carreg Dhu.

Lapwing –1 flew over Porth Hellick House towards Salakee.

Grey Wagtail – 1 in the chicken field at Tremelethen.

Sunday (26/02)

Richard’s Pipit – 1 still showing by the airport terminal buildings.

Cattle Egret – 6 still commuting between Longstone and Trewince.

Shoveler – The female was still on Porth Hellick Pool.


Mediterranean Gull 
– 4 at Porth Cressa.

Common Gull – 4 Water Mill Cove area and 3 at Porth Cressa.
