Curlew Sandpiper – 2 flew past the Swarovski Hide on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Wood Sandpiper – 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Merlin – 1 in Lower Moors.

Wryneck – 1 on the Old Town side of Peninnis. 

Great Spotted Woodpecker – 1 calling near Peacehaven, Watermill.

Raven – 1 flew over the Garrison.

Whinchat – 4 Salakee, 1 in the Standing Stones Field, Lower Moors and 1 on Peninnis.

Redstart – 1 on the east side of the pool on St. Agnes.

Pied Flycatcher – 1 on Rocky Hill, 1 Rosehill (photo), 1 on Abbey Road, Tresco and 1 near the Coastguards, St. Agnes.

Spotted Flycatcher – 2 on the Garrison, 1 on Peninnis, 1 in Holy Vale, 1 at Longstone and 1 Higher Moors.

Tree Pipit – 1 in Lower Moors, 1 flew over the Standing Stones Field, Lower Moors and 4 in a field south of Wingletang, St. Agnes

Thursday (22/09)

Cory’s shearwater – 1+ on a pelagic trip and 3 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s.

Great Shearwater – 33 on a pelagic trip, and 1 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the evening crossing from St. Mary’s to Penzance.

Sooty Shearwater –7 on a pelagic trip and 1 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s.

Leach’s Storm-petrel – 1 on a pelagic trip was the only one so far on this year’s pelagic trips

European Storm-petrel – 15 on a pelagic trip and 2 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s.

Sabine’s Gull – An adult and a juvenile on a pelagic trip and another juvenile seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s.

Pomarine Skua – The only bird so far on this year’s pelagic trips was an adult with “spoons” (photos). 

Green Sandpiper –1 on Lower Moors Pool.

Curlew Sandpiper – 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Long-eared Owl – 1 trapped and released at Porth Hellick ringing Station.

Hobby – 1 flew over Porthloo.

Wryneck – 1 on the north side of Gugh.

Firecrest – 1 behind the Seven Stones Inn, St. Martin’s.

Bluethroat – A female was in an area of gorses just above Great Bay, St. Martin’s.

Pied Flycatcher – 1 in Lower Moors.

Atlantic Bluefin Tuna – 3 on a pelagic trip.

Short-beaked Common Dolphin – 6 on a pelagic trip.

Friday (23/09)

Cory’s shearwater – 18 on a pelagic trip 7 miles west of St. Mary’s.

Great Shearwater – 33on a pelagic trip 7 miles west of St. Mary’s, 2 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s and 1 past Peninnis Head in the evening.

Sooty Shearwater – 1 on a pelagic trip 7 miles west of St. Mary’s.

Manx Shearwater – 6 on a pelagic trip 7 miles west of St. Mary’s.

Little Egret – 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Pectoral Sandpiper – 1 on the west end of the Great Pool, Tresco.

Curlew Sandpiper – 4 on the west end of the Great Pool, Tresco.

Wood Sandpiper – 1 seen from the David hunt Hide on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Black-tailed Godwit – 3 on the Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Yellow-legged Gull – An adult on the Cow, St. Agnes.

Mediterranean Gull – 6 in Porth Cressa and 1 on Abbey Pool.

Grasshopper Warbler – 1 in the sallows at the entrance to Higher Moors at the Porth Hellick end.

Common Whitethroat – 1 on Bryher.

Spotted Flycatcher – 1 on Bryher and 1 on St.Agnes.

Pied Flycatcher – 1 on St. Agnes.

Whinchat – 1 on the School playing field, Tresco and 1 on Bryher.

White Wagtail – 5 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Grey Wagtail – 2 on the Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Yellow Wagtail – 5 on the Great Pool, Tresco and 1 on Bryher.
