Thursday (24/03)

Hoopoe – 1 still in the field opposite Pelistry Riding Stables all day, another flew over Town Beach towards Holgate’s Green, it or another was seen at Porth Mellon, 1 was at Morning Point on the Garrison and what was presumably a new bird was seen early evening on the Salakee side of the airfield. So there were probably 3 possibly 4 on St. Mary’s. 1 was also reported on Bryher.

Garganey – The drake was still on Porth Hellick Pool and 1 reported on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Cattle Egret – Still 3 on Tresco.

Little Egret – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool. 

Great Northern Diver – 1 off Morning Point.

Purple Sandpiper – 1 on Old Town Quay.

Stock Dove – 4 on Kittydown and 2 in the ploughed field by the entrance to Peninnis Farm.

Cuckoo – 1 in the fields between the Airport and Old Town (photo)

Jackdaw – 2 flew over the Airport.

White Wagtail – 2 in garden behind Star Castle and 10+ Tresco.

Cetti’s Warbler – 1 in the Porth Hellick Loop area and 1 by pumping station there.

Siberian Chiffchaff – 1 in Lower Moors.

Fieldfare – 1 fields below the airport.

Redwing – 3 opposite Nowhere.

Wheatear – 1 by the airfield turning circle and 1 on Tresco.

Black Redstart – 1 in a Garrison garden, 1 at Outer Blue Carn, 1 in the pig field on the Garrison, 1 in garden behind Star Castle (photo), 1 Normandy Down, 1 Porth Hellick Down and 1 on Tresco.

Brambling – 38 at Pelistry Riding Stables, 1 flew over the Airport, 8 at Longstone, 5 in a weedy field at the junction of Rocky Hill and Porthloo Lane, 3 in garden behind Star Castle, c10 in the elms at Green Farm (photo)

Friday (25/03) 

Hoopoe – 1 near the Salakee Farm buildings.

Garganey – The drake was still on Porth Hellick Pool.

Manx Shearwater – 323 seen from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s, 198 of which were in the Scilly recording area.

Jackdaw – 2 rising to 3 were seen again around St. Mary’s.

Sand Martin – 1 over Porth Hellick Pool.

White Wagtail – 5 at the airport, 8 on the Garrison and 1 on Bryher.

Grey Wagtail – 1 Watermill Cove.

Siberian Chiffchaff – 2 still at Little Porth.

Fieldfare – 2 Longstone.

Redwing – 3 at Parting Carn.

Wheatear – 1 on the Garrison.

Black Redstart – 1 at the airport, 4 on the Garrison 2 at Little Port, 1 Porthloo and 1 on Bryher 

Brambling – 21 in a weedy field at Rocky Hill, 7 at Longstone and 2 at the riding stables at Pelistry

Saturday (26/03)

Garganey – The drake was still on Porth Hellick Pool.

Little Egret – 4 at Porthloo.

Purple Sandpiper – 3 on Old Town Quay.

Sandwich Tern – 4 feeding off Innisidgen.

Stock Dove – 3 at Parting Carn.

Jackdaw – 3 still on St. Mary’s.

Rook – 1 flew over the Garrison.

Cetti’s Warbler – 1 singing by the road at Porth Hellick/Higher Moors, 1 by the Stephen Sussex hide and 1 near the hides in Lower Moors.

Siberian Chiffchaff – 2 still at Little Porth.

Fieldfare – 1 at Salakee.

Redwing – 1 at Parting Carn.

White Wagtail – 7 at Porthloo and 3 on St. Agnes.

Wheatear – 1 on the Garrison, 1 on the airfield and 1 on St. Agnes.

Black Redstart – 7 at Porthloo, 2 at the airport, 2 Little Porth, 1 on the Garrison and 5 on St. Agnes.

Brambling – 6 still in the garden on Jackson’s Hill and 7 at Parting Carn.

Sunday (27/03)

Hoopoe – 1 was on Shipman Head Down, Bryher.

Garganey – The drake was still on Porth Hellick Pool.

Ring Ouzel – The first of the year was 1 on Shipman Head Down, Bryher, another was seen near the airfield turning circle in the evening.

Pintail – A pair on the Big Pool, Bryher. 

Great Northern Diver – 1 was off Innisidgen.

Manx Shearwater – 2 off Deep Point.

Purple Sandpiper – 2 on Old Town Quay.

Jack Snipe – 1 still on Lower Moors Pool.

Stock Dove – 4 in the ploughed field at Parting Carn.

Cuckoo – 1 north of the airport bungalows which then flew to the Tremelethen Farm area.

Raven – 1 on Bryher.

Skylark – 13 on the airfield and 8 on Bryher.

White Wagtail – 15 in the ploughed field at Parting Carn and 3 on Bryher.

Willow Warbler – 2 on Bryher.

Fieldfare – 1 at Salakee and 2 on Bryher.

Redwing – 1 in the ploughed field at Parting Carn.

Wheatear – 3 near the airfield turning circle in the evening and 4 on Bryher.

Black Redstart – 5 at Little Porth, 2 near the airfield turning circle in the , 1 at Parting Carn and 5 on Bryher.

Brambling – 5 on the airfield and 4 on Bryher.
