Glossy Ibis – 1 on Pool Road, Tresco.

Cattle Egret – 2 by Rowesfield Cottage, Tresco, 1 opposite Farmer Brown’s Bulb Shop near Four Lanes and probably the same in a field at Longstone.

Spoonbill – 1 on Samson.

Dark-bellied Brent Goose – 3 in Porth Mellon.

Pink-footed Goose – 5 in Church Fields, Tresco.

Short-eared Owl – 1 in the woodpile Pentle Bay, Tresco.

Shoveler – 2 pairs Great Pool, Tresco.

Pintail – 3 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Woodcock – 1 on Gugh.

Sparrowhawk – 1 Watermill Lane.

Mediterranean Gull – 11 in Tresco Channel.

Fin Whale – 1 off Peninnis going west and lost to view behind St. Agnes.

Thursday (20/01)

Cattle Egret – 1 opposite Farmer Brown’s Bulb Shop near Four Lanes.

Woodcock – 1 flushed at Higher Moors

Puffin – an early individual reported off Newman buoy.

Friday (21/01)

Surf Scoter – The 1st-winter female off South Beach, Tresco, seen from Bant’s Carn.

Black-necked Grebe – 1 off South Beach, Tresco, seen from Bant’s Carn.

Slavonian Grebe – 2 off Innisidgen.

Cattle Egret –3 in a field at Parting Carn.

Spoonbill – 3 on Samson, seen from the Garrison.

Black Redstart – 2 on Porthloo Beach and 1 Bar Point.

Humpback Whale – 1 off St. Agnes.

Saturday (22/01)

Surf Scoter – The 1st-winter female was seen again on a punt trip around Samson and the Eastern Isles (photo).

Slavonian Grebe – 3 seen on the punt trip around Samson and the Eastern Isles (photo).

Cattle Egret –3 in a field with cattle at Parting Carn.

Pink-footed Goose – 5 “grey” geese thought to be this species flew north past Deep Point.

Eider – A drake and 2 females seen on the punt trip around Samson and the Eastern Isles (photos). 

Great Northern Diver – 20 seen on the punt trip around Samson and the Eastern Isles, 1 near Spanish Ledge and 1 flew east past Peninnis.

Woodcock – 1 Shooters Pool, Lower Moors.

Mediterranean Gull – 10 seen on the punt trip around Samson and the Eastern Isles.

Humpback Whale – 1 off Giant’s Castle.

Fin Whale – 1 off Peninnis.

Sunday (23/01)

Surf Scoter – The 1st-winter female was still near Skirt Island, Tresco.

Cattle Egret –3 commuting between Parting Carn, Sunnyside and Longstone

Spoonbill – 1 on Samson and 1 on Tobaccoman’s Ledge by Skirt Island, Tresco.

Mediterranean Gull – An adult at Porthloo.

Monday (24/01)

Surf Scoter – The 1st-winter female was still south of Skirt Island, Tresco.

Cattle Egret – 3 just west of Longstone.

Spoonbill – 2 on Samson.

Tuesday (25/01)

Lesser Scaup – 1 still on Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Surf Scoter – The 1st-winter female seen from McFarland’s Down looking towards Tresco.

Glossy Ibis – 1 still Pool Road, Tresco.

Cattle Egret – 3 at Parting Carn. 

Slavonian Grebe – 1 seen from McFarland’s Down looking towards the Eastern Isles.

Great Northern Diver – “Lots” seen from McFarland’s Down.

Greylag Goose – 1 flew over Porthloo, over Porth Mellon then over the airfield before eventually landing on the sea between St. Martin’s and the Eastern Isles.

Shoveler – 4 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Pintail – A drake on Porth Hellick Pool.

Wigeon – 2 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Pochard – 10 on the Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Eider – A drake & a female west of Guther’s Island and another female was seen from McFarland’s Down looking towards the Eastern Isles.

Kingfisher – 1 Porth Hellick Bay.

Raven – 1 flew west from St. Martin’s.

Common Gull – 4 at Pentle Bay, Tresco.

Grey Wagtail – 1 at Carn Leh, Old Town Bay.
