Surf Scoter – The first-winter bird was still near Skirt Island, Tresco.

Grey Phalarope – 1 sheltering behind the quay in Old Town Bay.

Spoonbill – 2 on Samson.

Dark-bellied Brent Goose – 1 Porthloo and unidentified to subspecies flew from Pentle Bay, Tresco to St. Martin’s.

Eider – 1 off South Beach, Tresco.

Red-throated Diver – 1 off Tresco, viewed from Innisidgen.

Black-throated Diver – 1 off Great Bay, St. Martin’s and this or another seen in Pentle Bay, Tresco.

Great Northern Diver – 3 Old Grimsby, Tresco.

Shelduck – 6 on the Great Pool, Tresco and 2 St. Agnes.

Shoveler – 2 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Pintail – 2 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Wigeon – 4 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Pochard – 10 on the Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Golden Plover – 6 St. Agnes and 9 on Castle Down, Tresco.

Swallow – A very unseasonable bird over Porthloo boatyard.

Monday (27/12)

Glossy Ibis – 1 Abbey Road, Tresco.

Cattle Egret – 3 at Longstone.

Spoonbill – 1 on Samson Flats.

Shoveler – Single drakes were seen on Lower Moors Pool, Porth Hellick Pool and the Newford Farm Pools. Whether this involved more than 1 individual is unknown.

Bar Tailed Godwit – 1 ringed bird with a white leg-flag at Porthloo/Porth Mellon was a Polish-ringed bird.

Woodcock – 1 Trenoweth.

Swallow – 1 over Ram’s Valley, Hugh Town.

Siberian Chiffchaff – 1 on St. Agnes.

Black Redstart – 1 Porthloo and on the beach below the Mermaid Carpark.

Tuesday (28/12)

Glossy Ibis – 1 in a field behind Gimble Porth, Tresco.

Cattle Egret – 2 with Cattle at Longstone and Parting Carn.

Little Egret – 1 with the Cattle Egret, 1 Old Town Bay and 1 Porth Hellick.

Spoonbill – 1 flew over Hugh Town and landed on the beach in front of the Atlantic Hotel, it then moved and finally settled in Old Town Bay.

Shoveler – A drake on Porth Hellick Pool.

Knot – 1 at the mouth of Porth Cressa Bay.

Purple Sandpiper – 1 at the mouth of Porth Cressa Bay.

Kingfisher – 1 on the pool at the back of the Standing Stones Field, Lower Moors.

Yellow-browed Warbler – 1 on Lower Moors.

Black Redstart – 1 Little Porth and 1 Porth Mellon.

Grey Wagtail – 1 in a garden on High Lanes.

Wednesday (29/12)

Cattle Egret – 3 with Cattle at Longstone.

Little Egret – 1 with the Cattle Egrets at Longstone and 2 Porthloo

Spoonbill – 1 on Old Town Quay.

Bar Tailed Godwit – 1 on Porth Mellon Beach.

Spotted Sandpiper – The overwintering bird was back on Porthloo Beach.

Red-throated Diver– A juvenile off South Beach, Tresco and a juvenile & adult off Innisidgen. Innisidgen

Great Northern Diver – 8 off Innisidgen.

Bar Tailed Godwit – 1 on Porthloo Beach.

Whimbrel – 11 at Innisidgen.

Yellow-legged Gull – an adult was off Watermill and the flew towards St. Martin’s.

Siberian Chiffchaff – 3 Porth Hellick Loop.

Black Redstart – 3 on Porthloo Beach.

Grey Wagtail – 1 on Porthloo Beach and 1 on Porth Mellon Beach.

Other wildlife news: A Vagrant Emperor Dragonfly was seen between Pelistry and Watermill.
