Tuesday 22nd – Thursday 24th October 2024 – IoS Bird Sightings

Tuesday (22/10) Lesser Yellowlegs – There were now 2  the Great Pool. Tresco which then flew off towards Bryher and were later seen roosting in Appletree Bay, Tresco. Saturday 19th – Monday 21st October 2024 – IoS Bird Sightings

Saturday (19/10) Blyth’s Pipit – 1 still on Bryher. Lesser Yellowlegs – 1 in Stinking Porth, Bryher. Barn Owl – The Bird that has been heard  but not seen over the last few days, was heard  at Normandy, Spotted Crake – 1 by the boardwalk near the start of the Porth Hellick Loop Trail. Read more…

Wednesday 16th – Friday 18th October 2024 – IoS Bird Sightings

Wednesday (16/10)  Blyth’s Pipit – 1 still on Bryher. Barn Owl – 1 has been sound recorded on the last 3 nights somewhere in the Holy Vale area. Lesser Yellowlegs – 1 still on Simpson’s Field, Tresco. Ortolan Bunting – 1  at Normandy corner, in a field  at the turn off for Deep Point. Read more…

Sunday 13th – Tuesday 15th October 2024 – IoS Bird Sightings

Sunday (13/10) Wilson’s Snipe – 1 showing well from the ISBG hide on Lower Moors Pool. On examination of photographs it transpired there may have been 2 birds today and a different individual last week. Thursday 10th – Saturday 12th October 2024 – IoS Bird Sightings

Thursday (10/10) WILSON’S SNIPE  – What was probably the bird seen on Monday was flushed from Lower Moors Pool on to adjacent horse field. Olive-backed Pipit – 2 by the bulb dump on St. Agnes (photo). Short-toed Lark  – 1 still in a field on the west side of King Edward’s Road Peninnis. Read more…
