Wryneck – On St. Marin’s, 1 was by the boats next to the cricket field and 1 was in a ploughed field west of the campsite.
Nightingale – 1 by Redan “ D” on the Garrison walls.
Pied Flycatcher – 1 at Longstone.
Spotted Flycatcher – 1 at Longstone.

Solitary Sandpiper – 1 still at the eastern end of the Great Pool, Tresco.
Buff-breasted Sandpiper – 1 still on St. Martin’s Cricket Pitch.
Wilson’s Storm-petrel – 1 on the evening pelagic trip 6 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.
European Storm-petrel – 15 on the evening pelagic trip 6 miles southeast of St. Mary’s and 4 in Scilly waters seen from the Scillonian III on the return trip from St. Mary’s to Penzance.
Sooty Shearwater – 1 flew past St. Agnes in the evening.
Great Skua – 2 on the evening pelagic trip 6 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.
Arctic Tern – 2 on the evening pelagic trip 6 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.
Grey Phalarope – 1 on the evening pelagic trip 6 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.
Little Stint – 1 on Abbey Pool and 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco.
Green Sandpiper – 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco.
Wood Sandpiper – 1 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Short-beaked Common Dolphin – 10 on the evening pelagic trip 6 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.
Harbour Porpoise – 6 on the evening pelagic trip 6 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.
Ocean Sunfish – 1 on the evening pelagic trip 6 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.
Friday (11/09)
Solitary Sandpiper – 1 still on Tresco on Abbey Pool.
Buff-breasted Sandpiper – 1 was still on St. Martin’s Cricket Pitch and 1 that flew off from the Golf Course may well have been 1 of the 2 seen later on the airfield.
Spotted Crake – 1 still on the Great Pool, Tresco.
Little Ringed Plover – 1 still on St. Agnes at Periglis.
Wood Sandpiper – 1 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.
Curlew Sandpiper – 1 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.
Knot – 1 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.
Kingfisher – 1 flew north past Periglis, St. Agnes.
Wryneck – 1 still by the airfield perimeter fence by the eastern runway, 1 flushed from under the Steven Sussex hide at Porth Hellick, 1 at Rushy Bay, Bryher and 1 on Wingletang, St. Agnes.
Barred Warbler – 1 on he slope above the campsite on Bryher (photo).
Lesser Whitethroat – 1 at Longstone
Common Whitethroat – 1 at Borough Farm.
Pied Flycatcher – 4 at Borough Farm and 1 at Longstone.
Spotted Flycatcher– 2 at Borough Farm.
Common Redstart – 1 at Borough Farm.
Nightingale – 1 at Longstone.
Lapland Bunting – 1 still south of St. Agnes Campsite.
Saturday (12/09)
Buff-breasted Sandpiper – The 2 on the airfield showed down to 5 metres in the evening (photo).
Mediterranean Gull – c 100 on Merrick Island in Tresco Channel.
Wryneck – 1still in scrub just east of the turning circle on the airfield.
Mistle Thrush – 1 near Mount Todden Farm.
Spotted Flycatcher –1 at Longstone.
Common Redstart – 1 in a field on the road to Mount Todden Farm.
Tree Pipit – 1 in the pines behind the tennis court on the Garrison.

Solitary Sandpiper – 1 still on Abbey Pool, Tresco.
Buff-breasted Sandpiper – The 2 on the airfield flushed by a dog were later seen on the Golf Course and 1 was still on Chapel Down, St. Martin’s.
Spotted Crake – 1 still on the eastern end of the Great Pool, Tresco.
Wood Sandpiper – 1 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.
Green Sandpiper – 1 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.
Black-tailed Godwit – 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Firecrest – The first reports of the autumn were 1 on the path down to Watermill Cove (photo), 1 at Longstone and 1 on Peninnis.
Pied Flycatcher – 1 at Borough Farm, 1 Lower Moors and 2 Watermill.
Spotted Flycatcher – 1 at Borough Farm, 1 at Longstone, 1 Watermill and 1 by Shooters’ Pool, Lower Moors.
Monday (14/09)
Leach’s Storm-petrel – 13 on the evening pelagic trip 9 miles southwest of St. Mary’s. This a very scarce bird on Scilly and 13 is unprecedented number. As one of the stalwarts of 25 years said, “until tonight more South Polar Skuas or Fea’s Petrels than Leach’s Petrels had been seen on pelagic trips”. As can be seen from the attached photos they were feeding in the fish oil slick with 2 other species of Storm-petrel.

Cory’s Shearwater –2on the evening pelagic trip 9 miles southwest of St. Mary’s.
Sooty Shearwater – 7 on the evening pelagic trip 9 miles southwest of St. Mary’s.
Yellow-legged Gull – 1 on the evening pelagic trip 9 miles southwest of St. Mary’s.
Sabine’s Gull – 3 juveniles on the evening pelagic trip 9 miles southwest of St. Mary’s.
Great Skua – 3 on the evening pelagic trip 9 miles southwest of St. Mary’s.
Arctic Tern – 5 on the evening pelagic trip 9 miles southwest of St. Mary’s.
Grey Phalarope – 3 on the evening pelagic trip 9 miles southwest of St. Mary’s.

Buff-breasted Sandpiper – There were 4 or 5 birds on the islands, 4 on the Golf Course and what assumed to be 3 of theses seen later on the Airfield and 1 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.
Glossy Ibis – 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco, which later flew seen flying over Bryher, the Garrison and Hugh Town.
Wood Sandpiper – 1 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.
Green Sandpiper – on Abbey Pool, Tresco.
Kingfisher – 1 at Innisidgen and 1 caught and ringed at Porth Hellick Ringing Station.
Pied Flycatcher – 1 on the Golf course and 1 at Innisidgen.
Tree Pipit – 1 at Innisidgen and 1 at Longstone,
Yellow Wagtail – 1 on the Golf course
Short-beaked Common Dolphin – 6 on the evening pelagic trip 9 miles southwest of St. Mary’s.
Tuesday (15/09)
Solitary Sandpiper – 1 still on the Great Pool, Tresco.
Buff-breasted Sandpiper – 3 on St. May’s moving from the Golf Course to the Airfield and 1 on the Abbey Pool, Tresco.
Glossy Ibis – 2 on the Abbey Pool, Tresco which then flew over Old Grimsby and were then seen over Hugh Town before going back to Tresco and landing in front of the David Hunt Hide on the Great Pool.
Little Egret – 3 at Porthloo.
Little Ringed Plover – A juvenile was on South Beach , Tresco.
Wood Sandpiper – 1 on the Abbey Pool, Tresco.
Knot – 1 on the Abbey Pool, Tresco.
Whimbrel – 2 at Porthloo.
Yellow-legged Gull – A juvenile was on the Golf Course.
Grey Wagtail – 1 at Porth Hellick.
