Woodchat Shrike – 2 still on Tresco,1 in gorse on the  Heliport and 1 still at Gimble Porth (photo).

Short-toed Lark –  1 still on the airfield.

Night Heron – An adult  flew from Dump Clump pursued by a Crow.

Golden Oriole – 1 at Abbey Crossroads, Tresco (photo).

Marsh Harrier – 1 seen over several locations on St. Mary’s. It was also seen on Tresco and St. Martin’s.

Tufted Duck –  A drake was on Porth Hellick Pool.

Lapwing – 1 flew over the dump on St. Martin’s and 1 Tresco Great Pool.

Wood Sandpiper – 1 still on Porth Hellick Pool.

Common Sandpiper – 1 at Porth Killier, St. Agnes.

Hobby  –  1 flew west over New Grimsby, Tresco.

Arctic Skua – 1 between Annet and the Western Rocks.

Turtle Dove – 1 in fields near the school on St. Martin’s and 1 on Lowertown Farm. St. Agnes.

Cuckoo – 1 singing at the northeast end of Poo Road, Tresco and 1 Perpitch, St. Martin’s.

Hooded Crow  –  1 flew west over the fire station on St. Martin’s.

Nightingale – 1 still near Peacehaven, Watermill.

Wood Warbler – 1 still near Peacehaven, Watermill.

Dartford Warbler – 1 still on Chapel Down, St. Martin’s.

Spotted Flycatcher – 1 Middletown, St. Martin’s.

Whinchat – 1 south of Carn Gwaval, 1 just northwest of Tresco Heliport and 1 on St. Martin’s

Tree Pipit – 6 on St. Martin’s and 4 on Tresco.

Reed Bunting  – 1 in Lower Moors.

Tuesday (28/04)

Woodchat Shrike – 2 still on Tresco,1 in gorse on the  Heliport and 1 still at Gimble Porth.

Purple Heron – 1 flew from south of the Great Pool towards the northern end.

Night Heron – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool and later seen in the Standing Stones Field., Lower Moors.

Golden Oriole – 1 flew across the Great Pool, Tresco, and 1 at Lower Town Farm, St. Agnes.

Shoveler – A pair on Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Pochard – 2 drakes on Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Tufted Duck –  A drake was still on Porth Hellick Pool.

Golden Plover – 1 on Samson Hill, Bryher.

Wood Sandpiper – 1 still on Porth Hellick Pool (photo).

Bar-tailed Godwit – 5, including 1 in full summer plumage. At Porth Killier, St. Agnes.

Red Kite – At least 4 seen on Bryher, Tresco and St. Martin’s.

Hobby – 1 was hunting at Longstone.

Turtle Dove – 2 in the pool area on St. Agnes.

Cuckoo – 1 above Middle Town, St. Martin’s.

Jackdaw – 1 flew over Kittydown.

Lesser Whitethroat – 1 at Porth Warna, St. Agnes.

Redwing – A late bird flew over Kittydown.

Spotted Flycatcher –1 behind Rushy Bay, Bryher

Black Redstart – A female was at Porth Warna, St. Agnes.

Tree Pipit – 6 on St. Martin’s and 3 on Bryher.

Wednesday (29/04) 

Woodchat Shrike – 2 still on Tresco, 1 in gorse on the  Heliport and 1 still at Gimble Porth.

Purple Heron – 1 on Tresco, it flew down the Great Pool and landed in front of the David Hunt Hide.

Golden Oriole – 1 singing in Holy Vale early morning.

Pochard – 3 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Tufted Duck – a drake on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Lapwing – 1 in Lower Moors.

Golden Plover  – 2 on Stinky Porth, Bryher.

Wood Sandpiper – 1 still on Porth Hellick Pool.

Common Sandpiper – 1 Cove Vean, St. Agnes and 2 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Bar-tailed Godwit – 9 on St. Martin’s, 9 on Bryher. 3 at Porth Killier, St. Agnes and 2 Pentle Bay, Tresco.

Red Kite – 2 on Tresco and  1 on St. Martin’s.

Hobby – 1 over Back Lane, Tresco.

Turtle Dove – 2 at Lowertown Farm, St. Agnes and 1 on Peninnis (photo).

Cuckoo – 1 in Holy Vale and 1 on Bryher.

Garden Warbler – 1 on St. Martin’s and 1 at Longstone.

Common Redstart – A male south of Samson Hill, Bryher.

Whinchat – A male on the coastal path below the Golf Course.

Pied Flycatcher – A male south of Samson Hill, Bryher.

Redpoll  – 1 over Sallyport.

Thursday (30/04)

Red-breasted Flycatcher – A summer plumage bird at Middle Town, St. Martin’s.

Wood Sandpiper –1 still on Porth Hellick Pool.

Lapwing  – 1 on Back Lane, Tresco.

Common Sandpiper –2 Porthloo. 1 Old Town Bay, 1 below Halangy and 1 Periglis Beach. St. Agnes.

Dunlin – A notable influx with flocks of 20, 30 & 40 across the islands.

Bar-tailed Godwit – 5 on St. Martin’s and 8 on St. Agnes.

Tufted Duck – 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Pochard – 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Great Northern Diver  – A summer plumage bird was off the Mare.

Hobby – 1 over Maypole. 1 over the sea between the Garrison & St. Agnes and 1 flew west over Tresco towards Bryher.

Turtle Dove – 4 at Lowertown Farm, St. Agnes.

Jackdaw – 2 circled Longstone.

Grasshopper Warbler – 1 on St. Martin’s.

Garden Warbler – 1 at Carreg Dhu.

Spotted Flycatcher – 1 Porthloo, 1 Bryher and 1 at Middle Town, St. Martin’s.

Pied Flycatcher – 1 at Carreg Dhu, 1 on Tresco, 1 on St. Martin’s and 2 on Bryher.

Common Redstart – A female at Periglis, St. Agnes.

Whinchat – 1 still on the coastal path below the Golf Course, 1 Castell Down, St. Agnes  and 1 on St. Martin’s.

Yellow Wagtail – 1 flew over the Golf Course and 1 Porth Hellick.

Siskin  – 1 flew over Longstone.

Friday (01/05)

Hoopoe – 2 on St. Agnes, 1 on Barnaby Lane and 1 on the cricket pitch.

Golden Oriole  – 1 in the garden of the last house on the right at Trenoweth, 2 flew from the pones above Carreg Dhu, 1 flew over the fire Station, St. Martin’s and 1 on Barnaby Lane, St. Agnes.

Turtle Dove   – 4 still at Lower Town Farm, St. Agnes.

Yellow-legged Gull  – An adult was on Broad Ledges off Lower Town, St. Martin’s.

Dunlin – Still around in larger numbers the usual, e.g. 100 at Bar Point, 41 om Porthloo Beach and 65 on the Campsite Beach, Tresco.

Common Sandpiper – 1 on St. Agnes.

Bar-tailed Godwit – 4 on St. Agnes.

Red Kite   – 2 or 3 seen over various islands from late morning until dusk.

Hobby – 1 over Little Arthur Farm, St. Martin’s.

Hooded Crow   – 1 on St. Martin’s.

Dartford Warbler – 1 still on St. Martin’s.

Wood Warbler   – 1 in Middletown pines. St. Martin’s,

Grasshopper Warbler  – 1 reeling briefly at Higher Moors

Ring Ouzel – 1 on St. Martin’s.

Whinchat   – A cracking male on the path to the castle above New Grimsby, Tresco.

Pied Flycatcher – 1 on the Porth Hellick Loop Trail, 1 on St. Agnes and 1 on St. Martin’s.

Spotted Flycatcher – 1 on St. Martin’s.

Redpoll – 6 on Barnaby Lane, St. Agnes.

Saturday (02/05)

Night Heron –  A subadult flew from Higher Moors towards Holy Vale.

Woodchat Shrike – 1 on Shipman Head Down, Bryher.

Tree Sparrow – Another  brief sighting of this Scilly rarity was  in fields above the beach between Pelistry and Watermill and was probably the individual seen at Maypole Triangle on April 8.

Golden Oriole – 1 in the pines above Carreg Dhu.

Marsh Harrier  – 1 flew over the airfield.

Red Kite – 1 over Parting Carn and 2 over Tresco.

Great Northern Diver – 1 by the Wras in Poythress Bay.

Turtle Dove – 1 in a tilled field at the top of Holy Vale and 1 on Barnaby Lane. St. Agnes

Firecrest – A female trapped at Porth Hellick Ringing Station had a brood patch.

Tree Pipit  – 1 at Parting Carn.

Redpoll – 1 in the dump area near the cricket pitch on St. Agnes (photo).

Sunday (03/05)

Black-winged Stilt – After last Sunday’s excitement of 7 birds, 1 put in a brief appearance om Bryher Pool about 08:00.

Purple Heron – 1 took off from the southeast corner of the Great Pool, Tresco and  flew towards Pentle Bay.

Common Scoter – a drake flew towards Samson.

Hobby – 1 over Longstone.

Woodchat Shrike – 1 on Back Lane, Tresco.

Golden Oriole – 1 in the pines above Carreg Dhu.

Great Northern Diver – 7 in Pentle Bay, Tresco.

Turtle Dove – 1 on the 5 Islands School playing field.

Bar-tailed Godwit – 3 on Porth Coose, St. Agnes and 3 Pentle Bay, Tresco.

Black Redstart – A male was on rocks at Deep Point.
