Little Bittern – A male dropped into the reeds at Porth Hellick Pool (photo). It gave occasional flight views and a very brief views when it landed,

Purple Heron – 1 flew east over St. Martin’s.

Short-toed Lark  – 1 still on the airfield.

Greatt Whie Egret – 1 in Old Town Bay.

Golden Oriole – 12+ on St. Mary’s, 3 on St. Martin’s and 1 on Bryher.

Red Kite – 20=30 on St, Mary’s and 17 on St. Martin’s.

Marsh Harrier – 3 females around St. Mary’s.

Hobby – 2 or 3 over St. Mary’s.

Tufted Duck – The drake was still on Porth Hellick Pool.

Turtle Dove – 3 in a ploughed field by the turning to Deep Point.

Cuckoo – 1 Porth Hellick Down, 1 Salakee down and 1 on the Garrison.

Skylark – 1 flew southwest over Mount Todden.

Lesser Whitethroat – 1 Carn Friars.

Common Whitethroat – 1 on Peninnis.

Spotted Flycatcher  – 6 on St. Mary’s and 15 on Bryher

Pied Flycatcher  – c 20 on St. Mary’s and 20 on Bryher.

Common Redstart  –  2 at Borough Farm on St. Mary’s and 1 on the airfield.

Whinchat – 3 on the Garrison, 2 on the airfield and 1 on the Golf Course.

Tree Pipit –  6+ St. Mary’s

Yellow Wagtail – 1 in a horse Paddock near Higher Moors pumping Station and 1 at New Grimsby, Tresco.

Friday (02/05)

Little Bittern – The male was still present at Porth Hellick Pool but was very elusive in the reeds. I t was only seen well once for 5 minutes at 13:00, when it was photographed before it again flew into the reeds

Subalpine Warbler – A skulking female was in dense leafy sallows near the David Hunt hide on Pool Road, Tresco.

Short-toed Lark  – 1 still on the airfield.

Serin – 1 on St. Martin’s

Golden Oriole – 4+ in the Porth Hellick area,2 Carreg Dhu, 1 on Pool Road, Tresco, 1 at Rowesfield , Tresco and 1 on Shipman’s Head, Bryher.

Nightingale – 1 at the northwest end of the hotel pitch & put.

Great White Egret –  1 at Porth Hellick and 1 on South Beach, Tresco.

Great Northern Diver – 6 together at Spencer’s Ledge and 11 around Tresco.

Bar-tailed Godwit –  1 on Tresco.

Whimbrel  – 38 on St. Agnes.

Marsh Harrier – Still 2 around St. Mary’s and 1 over Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Red Kite – 1 circling over Pelistry and 1 over Porth Hellick.

Hobby – 1 over the Garrison

Turtle Dove –  2 were still in a ploughed field at Normandy near the turning to Deep Point, 2 in a garden of the staff accommodation behind Star Castle and 3 on St. Martin’s.

Cuckoo – 1 on Porth Hellick Down, 1 on Salakee Down, 1 on Tresco mad 1 on Bryher.

Common Whitethroat –  3 on Tresco

Garden Warbler –   1 on Tresco.

Pied Flycatcher – 18 on Tresco, 1  at Longstone, 5 in the Borough Farm area and 2 on St. Agnes.

Spotted Flycatcher – 1 in a garden of the staff accommodation behind Star Castle 1 in the Borough Farm area, 3 on St. Agnes and 3 on Tresco.

Whinchat – 1 in the Borough Farm area  and2 on Tresco.

Common Redstart – 1 in a garden of the staff accommodation behind Star Castle, 1 in the Borough Farm area and 1 on Tresco.

Tree Pipit –1 3 on Tresco, 1 Longstone and 2 on St. Agnes.

Yellow Wagtail – 1 Longstone and 1 on Sy. Agnes.

Saturday (03/05)

Red-rumped Swallow – 1 between the pools on Tresco.

Short-toed Lark  – 1 still on the airfield.

Nightingale – 1 at Higher Moors by the Holy Vale entrance, another opposite the Steven Sussex Hide at Porth Hellick and 1 still on Bryher.

Golden Oriole – 1 Porth Hellick Loop, 1 Carreg Dhu, 1 in pines at Porth Hellick Houde, 1 at Trenoweth, 1 at Mount Todden, 1 Salakee Farm and 1 at Rowesfield. Tresco.

Whimbrel – 9 flew over Hugh Town,

Marsh Harrier – 2 over the Great Pool, Tresco.

Red Kite – 1 over Parting Carn.

Cuckoo – 1 on St. Martin’s.

Turtle Dove – 2 flew over Kittydown, 4 were in Hillside Farm Fields, Bryher4 at Lower Town, St. Martin’s  and 1 was behind the fire station on Tresco.

Garden Warbler – 4 along Longstone Lane.

Whitethroat – 1 in the quarry by the road just past Porth Hellick House and 2 on Tresco

Spotted Flycatcher– 1 on Tresco,

Pied Flycatcher  – 1 Porth Hellick Loop, 1 on Sandy Lane and 2 on Tresco.

Common Redstart – 1 in the Dead Pine Walk on the Garrison.

Tree Pipit – 3 on Tresco and 1 on St. Martin’s.

Yellow Wagtail – A female and an apparent Grey-headed male in a horse paddock at Popplestone, Bryher.

Sunday (04/05)

Red-rumped Swallow – 1 hawking  above the Seven Stones Inn, St. Martin’s

Shirt-toed Lark – 1 still on the airfield.

Nightjar – 1 flew along a field edge west of Longstone Cottage.

Cattle Egret – 4 at Popplestone Bay, Bryher.

Great White Egret – 1 in Old Town Bay and 1 at Porth Hellick.

Wigeon – A male flew over Porth Hellick.

Tufted Duck – The drake was still on Porth Hellick Pool,

Whimbrel – 2 flew over Hugh Town

Golden Oriole – 6+ around St. Mary’s.

Nightingale – 1 still on Bryher.

Common Swift – 1 over Salakee and 1 over St. Martin’s.

Red Kite – 1 over Porth Hellick.

Hobby – 1 over Porth Hellick.

Turtle Dove – 1 in Holy Vale, 1 in horse paddocks at Kittydown and 3 still in Lower Town Fields, St. Martin’s.

Cuckoo – 1 on Porth Hellick Down and 1 on Salakee Down.

Rook – 1 in a field at the top of Kittydown.

Lesser Whitethroat – 1 in Holy Vale

Common Whitethroat – 2 at Salakee,

Garden Warbler – 1 on Sandy Lane, 2 at Carreg Dhu and 1 at Higher Moors.

Pied Flycatcher –  1 in holy Vale and 1 on the Garrison.

Whinchat – 1 at Salakee

Common Redstart – 1 on the Garrison and 1 at Salakee

Yellow Wagtail – 1 flew over Longstone and the apparent Grey-headed male was still on Bryher.

Monday (05/05) 

Red-footed Falcon  – 1 at dusk, hawking over the reed bed on the east side of Lower Moors.

Greatt Whie Egret – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.

Golden Oriole – 3 in the Standing Stones Field, 1 at Carreg Dhu, 1 a Mount Todden and 1 at Porth Hellick.

Nightingale – 1 at Higher Moors and 1 by Porth Hellick Loop Trail.

Hobby –  1 Porthloo. And 1 over Porth Hellick

Merlin – 1 between Old Town and the airfield,

Wigeon  – A drake on Porth Hellick Pool.

Tufted Duck – The drake was still on Porth Hellick  Pool.

Bar-tailed Godwit  – 2 in Stinky Porth, Bryher.

Common Swift – 2 over Bryher.

Turtle Dove – 3 still in the ploughed field at Normandy corner, 1 at Porth Hellick and  1 feeding in a horse paddock north of Samson Hill, Bryher.

Cuckoo – 1 Carn Friars/Porth Hellick Down.

Rook  – 1 still in the field at the top pf Kittydown,

Pied Flycatcher  – 1 Porth Hellick Loop Trail.

Yellow Wagtail – The female and the apparent Grey-headed male were still in a field at Hillside Farm on Bryher.

White Wagtail – 3 were in a field at Hillside Farm on Bryher.
