Pectoral Sandpiper – 1 still on Porth Hellick Pool and a second at Bathinghouse Porth, Tresco.

Cattle Egret – A juvenile on Tresco. 

Hoopoe – 1 in the field west of Longstone Cottage.

Wilson’s Storm-petrel – 5  on an evening Pelagic trip 9 miles northeast of St. Mary’s.

European Storm-petrel – 49  on an evening Pelagic trip 9 miles northeast of St. Mary’s.

Cory’s Shearwater – 130  on an evening Pelagic trip 9 miles northeast of St. Mary’s and 30 past Deep Point 06:30-07:30.

Great Shearwater – 30  on an evening Pelagic trip 9 miles northeast of St. Mary’s.

Sabine Gull – 2 on an evening Pelagic trip 9 miles northeast of St. Mary’s.

Dotterel – 1 still on the airfield.

Brent Goose – 2 flew over Peninnis.

Curlew Sandpiper – 1 on the west end of the Great Pool, Tresco.

Black-tailed Godwit – 1 on the Great Pool and 2 Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Marsh Harrier – 1 hunting over Annet.

Wryneck – 1 in the quarry at Porth Wreck and 1 on the perimeter fence of the airfield below the eastern runway.

Turtle Dove – 1 in the pig field on Peninnis.

Spotted Flycatcher – 2 by Shooters’ Pool, Lower Moors, 1 in Sunnyside Fields, 2 Carn Gwaval, 3 in the Community Orchard at Trenoweth, 3 on St. Agnes and “several” at the top of Sandy Lane, St. Martin’s.

Pied Flycatcher – 3 in Sunnyside Fields and 3 on St. Agnes.

Whinchat – 1 at the north end of the airfield,

Yellow Wagtail – 3 at Old Grimsby, Tresco.

Short-beaked Common Dolphin – 20  on an evening Pelagic trip 9 miles northeast of St. Mary’s.

Atlantic Bluefin Tuna – 10  on an evening Pelagic trip 9 miles northeast of St. Mary’s.

Tuesday (09/09)

Glossy Ibis – 1+ still moving around St. Mary’s.

Hoopoe – 1 still in the field west of Longstone Cottage.

Cory’s Shearwater –  a “light passage”, south pat Giant’s Castle mid-afternoon.

Dotterel – 2 near the Daymark, St. Martin’s.

Jack Snipe – 1 on Lower Moors Pool.

Kingfisher  – 1 Lower Moors and 1 Old Town Bay.

Spotted Flycatcher  – 1 in Old Town Churchyard and 1 Holy Vale.

Pied Flycatcher– 2 in the Dump Clump. 3 in the vicinity of Shooters’ Pool, 2 Porthloo Lane and 1 in bushes at Carn Leh, Old Town Bay and 2 in Old Town Churchyard

Wednesday (10/09)

Black-headed Bunting – A first-winter male was at Stinky Porth, Bryher (photo). This is the 14th record for Scilly, the last one was in May 2022.

 Ruff  – 1 flew over Cove Vean, St. Agnes.

Whimbrel – 1 Green Bay, Bryher.

Cory’s Shearwater  – 10 lingering of the north end of St. Martin’s.

Hoopoe – 1 still in the field west of Longstone Cottage.

Wryneck – 1 on a field wall along King Edward’s Road, Peninnis and 1 at Browarth, St. Agnes.

Spotted Flycatcher – 1 Holy Vale.

Pied Flycatcher – 2 Carn Leh, 1 Holy Vale, 1 Content, 2 in St. Martin’s Vineyard and 1 in the elms by the cricket pitch.

Common Redstart – 1 in a field along King Edward’s Road, Peninnis.

Thursday (11/09)

Pectoral Sandpiper – 1 at Porth Hellick in the evening.

Wilson’s Storm-petrel – 3 on an evening pelagic trip 9 miles northeast of St. Mary’s.

European Storm Petrel – 80 on an evening pelagic trip 9 miles northeast of St. Mary’s.

Cory’s Shearwater – 300 on an evening pelagic trip 9 miles northeast of St. Mary’s, 50 circling of Horse Point, St. Agnes and 100 past Deep Point in the evening.

Great Shearwater – 150 on an evening pelagic trip 9 miles northeast of St. Mary’s.

Sooty Shearwater – 3 on an evening pelagic trip 9 miles northeast of St. Mary’s.

Great Skua – 1 on an evening pelagic trip 9 miles northeast of St. Mary’s and 1 west past Horse Point. St. Agnes.

Grey Phalarope – 1 on an evening pelagic trip 9 miles northeast of St. Mary’s.

Dotterel – 2 still near the Daymark, St, Martin’s.

Osprey – 1 flew low over Longstone.

Wryneck – 1 still at Deep Point, 1at Browarth, St. Agnes and 1 on Tresco.

Hoopoe – 1 still in the field west of Longstone Cottage.

Grey Phalarope – 1 flew towards the southern end of Tresco.

Lapland Bunting – 1 calling at Popplestone Bay, Bryher.

Yellow-legged Gull  – 1 on Porthloo Beach.

Mediterranean Gull  – 40 in Tresco Channel.

Bar-tailed Godwit – 5 at Stinky Porth, Bryher.

Whimbrel – 2 on Porthloo Beach.

Spotted Flycatcher  – 2 Rosehill, 1 Lower Moors, 1 in bushes near Church Quay, Bryher and 1 on Racket Town Lane, Bryher.

Pied Flycatcher  – 1 on rocks west of Tregarthen’s Hotel, 1 at Trenoweth and 2  in Old Town Churchyard.

Grey Wagtail – 1 at Carn Leh.

Friday (12/09)

Bluethroat – 1 briefly in Lower Moors early morning.

Cattle Egret – 1 at Old Grimsby, Tresco.

Wryneck – 1 in scrub near Giant’s Castle, 1 Porth Wreck, 1 Sallyport, 1 Standing Stones Field, 1 Curchtown Farm, St. Martin’s  and 1 at Browarth, St Agnes.

Grey Phalarope – 1 on the sea below Mermaid Carpark and 2 Periglis, St. Agnes.

Brent Goose – 2 near Samson.

Knot – 4 Periglis, St. Agnes.

Ruff – 1 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Bar-tailed Godwit – 2 at Stinky Porth, Bryher

Mediterranean Gull – 3 Cook’s Porth, Bryher.

Spotted Flycatcher – 1 Carn Leh, 1 Sallyport, 1 Borough Farm. Tresco and 1 by the tennis court on Bryher.

Pied Flycatcher – 1 Carn Leh, 1 Kittydown, 1 Port Cressa, 2 Trenoweth, 2 Shooters’ Pool and 5 on Tresco.

Whinchat – 1 in a field adjacent to the Standing Stones Field.
