Melodious Warbler – 1 by the path through  Lower Moors.

Mediterranean Gull  – 8 on  the rocks by Carn Near, Tresco.

Common Sandpiper – 1 on Porthloo Beach.

Black-tailed Godwit – 1 at Little Arthur, St. Martin’s.

Common Whitethroat – 1  at Content.

Pied Flycatcher c in the pines behind the cadet hut on the Garrison, 1 in Lower Moors, 2 in Longstone Cottage Garden, 2 in Carreg Dhu Gardens, 2 in the Parsonage garden on St. Agnes and 5 on Bryher.

Spotted Flycatcher – 2 in the pines behind the cadet hut on the Garrison, 1 on Barnaby Lane, St. Agnes and 4 on Bryher.

Tree Pipit – 1  at Content.

Crossbill – 4 flew over the Garrison.

Wilson’s Storm-petrel – 8 on an evening  birding/sharking fishing  trip 5 miles southeast of St. Mary’s,

European Storm-petrel –.50 on an evening  birding/sharking fishing  trip 5 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.

Cory’s Shearwater –  1 on an evening  birding/sharking fishing  trip 5 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.

Great Shearwater –  8 on an evening  birding/sharking fishing  trip 5 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.

Common Whitethroat –1 in the Garrison pines behind the cadet hut

Spotted Flycatcher –2 in the Garrison pines behind the cadet hut and 1 in Longstone Cottage Garden

Pied Flycatcher – 1 on Sandy Lane, 1 in Holy Vale, 1 in Lower Moors, 1 in Longstone cottage Garden and3 in the Garrison pines behind the cadet hut.

Ocean Sunfish– 2 on an evening  birding/sharking fishing  trip 5 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.

Blue Shark – 1 caught, tagged and released on an evening  birding/sharking fishing  trip 5 miles southeast of St. Mary’s.

Lanner Falcon? – A “Lanner” type falcon was seen flying east over the garden of the Star Castle Hotel staff accommoation.

European Storm-petrel –50  on an evening  pelagic trip 10 miles southwest of St. Mary’s and 5 in Scilly waters, seen from the Scillonian III on the morning crossing from Penzance to St. Mary’s.

Cory’s Shearwater –  2 on an evening  pelagic  trip 10 miles southwest of St. Mary’s.

Sooty Shearwater –  1 on an evening  pelagic  trip 10 miles southwest of St. Mary’s.

Marsh Harrier –  1 over Annet.

Common Swift –  1 at Trewince.

Common Whitethroat – 1 in Brambles by the Woolpack accommodation block on the Garrison and 4 at Trewince.

Spotted Flycatcher –  1 at Trewince and 3 in Carreg Dhu Gardens.

Pied Flycatcher . –  4 at Trewince and 1 in Carreg Dhu Gardens.

Saturday (16/08) 

SAKER FALCON – The large falcon seen over the Garrison yesterday was identified by some as a hybrid . Today it has been seen and photographed at various locations around St. Mary’s. The  photographs show that it is definitely a juvenile Saker. However the photos also showed that it has a closed ring on its left leg, so is probably an escaped falconers bird

Wryneck – 1 on St. Martin’s.

Western Bonelli’s Warbler –1 still in the Dead Pine Walk on the Garrison.

Saker Falcon –  The presumed escaped falconers bird was seen over Gweal Hill. Bryher

Wilson’s Storm-petrel – 12 on a daytime pelagic  trip 11 miles northwest of St. Mary’s.

European Storm-petrel – c150 on a daytime pelagic  trip 11 miles northwest of St. Mary’s.

Great Skua  – 1 on a daytime pelagic  trip 11 miles northwest of St. Mary’s.

Common Swift  – 1 over Longstone.

Whinchat – 1 Higher Moors

Short-beaked Common Dolphin – 10 on a daytime pelagic  trip 11 miles northwest of St. Mary’s.

Garden Warbler – 1 in the garden of  Longstone Cottage.

Spotted Flycatcher – 2 in the garden of the staff accommodation behind Star Castle on the Garrison and 1 Old Town Churchyard.

Pied Flycatcher – 1 at Carn Friars, 2 in Lower Moors, 1 Borough Farm, 1 in the garden of Longstone Cottage, 1 Peninnis. 2 on St. Martin’s and 1 on Bryher.

Short-beaked Common Dolphin –  130 on an evening sharking/fishing/birding pelagic trip 9 miles west of St. Mary’s.

Atlantic Bluefin Tuna –  50  on an evening sharking/fishing/birding pelagic  trip 9 miles west of St. Mary’s.

Ocean Sunfish –  2 on an evening sharking/fishing/birding pelagic trip 9 miles west of St. Mary’s.

Blue Shark –  1 on an evening sharking/fishing/birding pelagic trip 9 miles west of St. Mary’s.
