Serin – 1 singing at Normandy.

Yellow-browed Warbler – 1 on Porth Hellick Loop Trail.

Brent Goose – 5 in the bay below St. Martin’s Campsite.

Wigeon – 5 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Pochard – 3 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Red-throated Diver – 1 just west of Hats Buoy.

Great Northern Diver – 12 seen from Innisidgen and 6+ around Tresco/Bryher.

Lapwing – 1 flew over north end of Tresco towards the Great Pool.

Whimbrel – 1 on Taylor’s Island, Porthloo.

Bar tailed Godwit – 4 Pentle Bay, Tresco and 1 on Newford Island, Porthloo.

Merlin – 1 over King Charles’ Castle, Bryher.

Swallow – 1 Pool Road, Tresco.

Black Redstart – 1 still at Little Porth.

Humpback Whale – 1 close in off Deep Point.

Fin Whale – 2 south of the islands.

Sunday (26/11)

Cape May Warbler – The first-winter female was still feeding in bushes and on rocks in Green Bay Beach, below the track to Veronica Farm, Bryher.

Cattle Egret – 7 flew in off the sea over Porth Cressa and Porth Mellon before settling at Churchtown Farm on St. Martin’s.

Great Shearwater – 10+ in a feeding frenzy off Pelistry.

Sooty Shearwater – 1 in the feeding frenzy off Pelistry.

Great Skua – 1 in the feeding frenzy off Pelistry.

Merlin – 1 over Porthloo.

Humpback Whale – 1 in the feeding frenzy off Pelistry.

Risso’s Dolphin – A “small number” in the feeding frenzy off Pelistry.

Short-beaked Common Dolphin – A “lots” in the feeding frenzy off Pelistry.

Monday (27/11)

Cape May Warbler – The first-winter female was still feeding in bushes and on rocks in Green Bay Beach, below the track to Veronica Farm, Bryher.

Jack Snipe – 1 flushed from the side of the Porth Hellick Loop Trail.

Bar-tailed Godwit – 3 on Watermill Beach.

Short-eared Owl – 3 flushed from bracken just northeast of Csrn Near, Tresco.

Great Spotted Woodpecker – A female in Tresco Abbey Gardens (photo).

Grey Wagtail– 1 on Watermill Beach.

Tuesday (28/11)

Cape May Warbler – The first-winter female was still feeding in bushes and on rocks in Green Bay Beach, below the track to Veronica Farm, Bryher (photo).

Velvet Scoter – 1 in Rushy Bay, Bryher. This is a very rare bird on Scilly, the last record was in December 2004, when one spent 10 days on Tresco.

Great Northern Diver – 4 off Bryher.

Spoonbill – 3flew from Green Island over Samson and landed on White Island.

Woodcock – 1 Sunnyside arm.

Marsh Harrier – A female flew west over Carn Near, Tresco.

Redwing – 8 on Bryher.

Black Redstart – 1 on Bryher.

Fin Whale – 1 a mile southeast of Porth Hellick.

Wednesday (29/11)

Cape May Warbler – The first-winter female was still feeding in bushes and on rocks in Green Bay Beach, below the track to Veronica Farm, Bryher.

Velvet Scoter – It had been mooted that yesterday’s bird may have been an American White-winged Scoter. It was seen today from St. Mary’s, distantly off Samson. To resolve the identification 8 local birders chartered a jet boat to get closer. It was seen well, and photographs confirmed it was indeed, as first reported, a Velvet Scoter (photos).

Common Scoter – 4 off Samson with the Velvet Scoter.

Woodcock – 1 near Porth Hellick House.

Whimbrel – 1 at Bant’s Carn.

Arctic Skua – A skua that was probably this species that was harassing Kittiwakes off Annet was probably this species.

Firecrest – 1 trapped, ringed and released at Porth Hellick Ringing Station (photo)

Yellow-browed Warbler – 1 trapped, ringed and released at Porth Hellick Ringing Station (photo) and 1 on Bryher 100 yards along the beach from the Cape Maty Warbler.

Black Redstart – 1 at Bant’s Carn.

Thursday (30/11)

No reports on a very wet and windy day.

Fieldfare – 2 at Higher Moors.

Redwing – 10 at Higher Moors.

Siskin – 1 on Tresco.

Humpback Whale – 1 + between St. Agnes and Meledgen, Western Rocks.

Fin Whale – 1 between St. Agnes and Meledgen, Western Rocks.
