Richard’s Pipit – 1 still on the airfield.

Cattle Egret – 8 on Tresco.

Great Northern Diver – 1 still in Porth Cressa Bay.

Harrier sp. – The ring-tailed harrier was seen, again very briefly, on Bryher and over Peninnis.

Cetti’s Warbler – 1 Lower Moors.

Willow Warbler – 1 Lower Moors.

Sunday (02/04)

Night Heron – 1 was seen near the road at Porth Hellick early afternoon when it flew towards the pool. It was then seen flying from the pool over the beach at dusk. 

Montagu’s Harrier – The unidentified harrier species seen over the last few days, finally showed well enough on Bryher to be identified.

Richard’s Pipit – 1 still on the airfield.

Cattle Egret – 7 at Simpson’s Field, Tresco.

Great Northern Diver – 13 on a kayak trip between Samson and the Eastern Isles.

Black-throated Diver – An adult showing a lot of breeding plumage in Great Bay, St. Martin’s.

Canada Geese – 12 Porth Hellick, there used to be a resident population on Tresco, but not in recent years and they have always been a scarce bird on St. Mary’s.

Wigeon – 1 Porth Hellick.

Shoveler – 4 on Tresco, including 2 displaying males.

Common Sandpiper – 1, the first of the year at Watermill Cove.

Golden Plover – 1 flew northeast over the Garrison.

Short-eared Owl – 1 on Samson and 1 flew over Lower Moors at dusk.

Great Spotted Woodpecker – 1 Porth Hellick, another scarce species on Scilly.

Cetti’s Warbler – 1 Lower Moors.

Willow Warbler – 3 Porth Hellick.

Firecrest – 1 Carreg Dhu Gardens.

Swallow – 4 flew over Great Bay, St. Martin’s.

Black Redstart – 1 at the airport.

White Wagtail – 1 on the Garrison

Monday (03/04)

Night Heron – The bird found yesterday was seen in flight and in a tree at Porth Hellick.

Montagu’s Harrier – It flew over Nowhere towards Lower Moors.

Richard’s Pipit – 1 still on the airfield.

Cattle Egret – 7 on Tresco.

Little Egret – 1 Porth Hellick.

Manx Shearwater – 8 flew past St. Agnes.

Wigeon – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool,

Shoveler – 2 on Tresco.

Pochard – 7 on Tresco.

Sand Martin – 2 flew west through Great Bay, St. Martin’s and 4 Porth Hellick.

Swallow – 1 Porth Hellick.

Wheatear – 1 on St. Agnes.

Tuesday (04/04)

Azorean? Yellow-legged Gull – A “probable” was briefly on the golf course.

Purple Heron – At least 3 on the islands, 1 flew in from the north and appeared to drop into the water meadows at the top of Holy Vale, 1 on St.Agnes and 2 in Lower Moors (an adult & a juvenile) for about 2 hours. Whilst the 2 were in Lower Moors another adult was seen flying over the cricket pitch on St. Martin’s and then heading towards the Eastern Isles.

Night Heron – 1 was seen again at the leat at Porth Hellick.

Montagu’s Harrier – Seen on Gugh and St. Agnes.

Richard’s Pipit – 1 still on the airfield.

Black-throated Diver – 1 in Porth Seal, St. Martin’s.

Great Northern Diver – 1 in nearly full-summer plumage was seen off Tresco (photo)

Cattle Egret – 8 on Simpson’s Field, Tresco.

Little Egret – 1 flew north over Lower Moors.

Common Sandpiper – 1 on Simpson’s Field, Tresco.

Short-eared Owl – 1 flew over Lower Moors towards the airfield at dusk.

Sand Martin – 20 on Abbey Pool, Tresco and 4 over Porth Hellick Pool.

House Martin – 5 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Swallow – 40 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Willow Warbler – At least 10 at Porth Hellick.

Wheatear – 3 at Porth Seal, St. Martin’s.

Wednesday (05/04)

Montagu’s Harrier – 1 still on St. Agnes.

Richard’s Pipit – 1 still on the airfield.

Great Northern Diver – 5 off Samson.

Sandwich Tern – 1 Old Town Bay.

Fieldfare – A late bird at Porth Hellick.

Thursday (06/04)

Woodchat Shrike – 1 in and around Deep Point Quarry (photo).

Montagu’s Harrier – 1 still on St. Agnes and Gugh.

Richard’s Pipit – 1 still on the airfield.

Great Spotted Woodpecker – 1 in the pines at Porth Hellick House.

Friday (07/04)

Woodchat Shrike – 1 still in Deep Point Quarry.

Night Heron – The adult was seen again in flight over Porth Hellick.

Richard’s Pipit – 1 still on the airfield by the terminal building.

Wryneck – 1 on the cliffs west of the airfield turning circle and 1 on Shipman Head Down, Bryher.

Cattle Egret – 8 Simpson’s Field, Tresco.

Short-eared Owl – 1 flew over Ennor Close, Old Town.

Great Northern Diver – 2 off St. Agnes and 1 off Samson.

Wigeon – 1 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Pochard – 8 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Lapwing – 1 flew over Higher Moors and landed in the field in front of Porth Hellick House.

Common Tern – 1 feeding in Porth Cressa.

Wheatear – 1 on Peninnis, 2 Deep Point and 3 Shipman Head Down, Bryher.

Tree Pipit – 1 Tremelethen Farm.

Siskin – 1 over Old Town.
