Blackburnian Warbler – The first-winter male was still in Popplestone Fields, Bryher.

Pallid Swift – 1 on St. Agnes (photo) and 1 over the north end of St. Mary’s with a Common Swift.

Wilson’s Snipe – 1 still at Porth Hellick Pool.

American Buff-breasted Pipit – 1 still at Pelistry Riding Stables.

Red-throated Pipit – 1 over Pelistry farm and probably the same 1 at Content.

Short-toed Lark – 1 in a field near Coastguards, St. Agnes.

Cory’s Shearwater – 1 past Peninnis Head.

Great Shearwater – 2 past Peninnis Head, 11 past Giant’s Castle and 3 in Scilly waters seen from the Scillonian III on the return trip from St. Mary’s to Penzance.

Sooty Shearwater – 1 past Peninnis Head, 5 past Giant’s Castle and 3 in Scilly waters seen from the Scillonian III on the return trip from St. Mary’s to Penzance.

Wryneck – 1 at Salakee just below the airfield runway.

Yellow-browed Warbler – 1 at the entrance to the Garrison Campsite, 1 Dump Clump, 1 in the garden of Carn Wethers Guesthouse, Pelistry, 1 Borough Farm, St. Mary’s, 1 in pines north of Helvear and 1 Rowesfield Crossroads, Tresco.

Woodlark – 2 in a field near Coastguards, St. Agnes.

Hawfinch – 2 flew south from Content.

Osprey – 1 spent the day touring St. Mary’s, paying a brief visit to Tresco.`

Pochard – A male & female on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Cattle Egret – 1 in a field with cows on Pool Road, Tresco.

Spoonbill – 3 still on Green Island.

Grey Plover – 4 Shipman Head Down, Bryher.

Golden Plover – 2 Shipman Head Down, Bryher.

Black-tailed Godwit – 3 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Jack Snipe – 1 on a muddy scrape in a garden behind Star Castle on the Garrison.

Woodcock – 2 on Peninnis and 1 in a field on the westside of Old Town Bay.

Great Skua – 2 in Scilly waters seen from the Scillonian III on the return trip from St. Mary’s to Penzance.

Long-tailed skua –1 in Scilly waters seen from the Scillonian III on the return trip from St. Mary’s to Penzance.

Merlin – 1 on the west side of Peninnis and a male flew over the woodpile and heliport on Tresco.

Mistle Thrush – 1 in field opposite Farmer Brown’s bulb shop.

Fieldfare – Lower numbers than yesterday but still several hundred

Redwing – Small groups of 10 or less around St.Mary’s.

Ring Ouzel – 15 on St. Mary’s and 2 on Bryher.

Skylark – 1 over Longstone.

Black Redstart – 12 on St. Mary’s and 1 on Tresco.

Firecrest – 1 in Carreg Dhu Gardens.

Whinchat – 1 Salakee.

Spotted Flycatcher – 1 Sandy Lane.

Grey Wagtail – 2 on he Garrison and 1 on Lower Moors Pool.

Brambling – 2 on the Sunnyside Farm Trail, 1 on the Peninnis Farm Trail, 1 Longstone, 1 over the Garrison and 1 in the Standing Stones Field, Lower Moors.

Siskin – 6 Trenoweth and 14 between Newford Duck Pond & Watermill.

Snow Bunting –1 Shipman Head Down, Bryher.

Saturday (22/10)

Blackburnian Warbler – The first-winter male was still in Popplestone Fields, Bryher.

Wilson’s Snipe – 1 still at Porth Hellick Pool.

Pallid Swift – 1 toured St. Mary’s before spending the late afternoon flying around Star Castle on The Garrison and giving every one excellent views, sometimes flying past with a few feet of observers.

American Buff-breasted Pipit – 1 still at Normandy Corner.

Olive-backed Pipit – 1 in a field edge along Pool Road, Tresco.

Red-throated Pipit – 1 in fields on Pungies Lane.

Short-toed Lark – 1 still in a field near Coastguards, St. Agnes.

Woodlark – 2 still in a field near Coastguards, St. Agnes.

Swift (sp) – an unidentified Swift flew over Porthcressa and over the Duchy Cottages on the Garrison.

Cory’s Shearwater – 1 flew west pat Kettle Point, Tresco and 3 seen from the Scillonian III within Scilly waters.

Great Shearwater – “100s” flying past the islands, with 150 seen from the Scillonian III within Scilly waters, 234 past Porth Cressa between 16:00 & 16:30 and 102 between 17:40 & 17:50

Sooty Shearwater – 2 past Peninnis Head and 7 seen from the Scillonian III within Scilly waters 

Manx Shearwater – 2 seen from the Scillonian III within Scilly waters 

Cattle Egret – 1 along Pool Road and the flew towards the Great Pool, Tresco.

Golden Plover – 2 flew over Hugh Town.

Lapwing – 2 flying towards Telegraph.

Purple Sandpiper – 3 seen from the Scillonian III within Scilly waters

Bar-tailed Godwit – 1 Porth Mellon and 3 on Bryher.

Whimbrel – 2 on Bryher.

Woodcock – 1 at Little Arthur Farm

Little Egret – 1 Porth Hellick Bay and 1 on St.Martin’s.

Common Gull – 1 Porth Cressa.

Mediterranean Gull –12+ on Pilchard Pool rocks, Porthcressa.

Arctic Skua – 1 in the Roads. 

Osprey – 1 over St. Agnes.

Skylark – 5 on St. Martin’s.

Cetti’s Warbler – 1 singing in Lower Moors and 1 singing at Porth Hellick.

Yellow-browed Warbler – 1 on Porth Hellick Loop Trail, 1 in elms near Newman House, 1 in the Dump Clump and 1 Little Arthur Farm, St. Martin’s

Lesser Whitethroat – 1 in the Standing Stones Field, Lower Moors.

Firecrest – 2 Carreg Dhu Gardens, 1 trapped and ringed on St. Agnes (photo).

Fieldfare/Redwing – A mixes flock of 100+ birds in a bulb field on High Lanes, with 114 Fieldfare & 7 Redwing on St. Martin’s and 100 Fieldfare on Bryher.

Ring Ouzel – 1 in a garden at Borough Farm, St. Mary’s, 2 on Castella Down, St. Agnes, 2 on Bryher and 1 at Little Arthur Farm, St. Martin’s.

Black Redstart – 2 at Pelistry Riding Stables, 4 Porthloo, 1 by Peninnis Lighthouse, 1 Town Beach, 1 at Little Porth Askin, St. Agnes and 2 by the cricket nets on St. Martin’s.

Siskin – 2 on St. Martin’s.
