Western Bonelli’s Warbler – 1 was near the tennis courts on Bryher.

Ortolan Bunting – 1 on the south turning circle on the airfield.

Short-toed Lark – 1 on the south turning circle on the airfield.

Nightingale – A very elusive bird was in the small quarry just inland of the Woolpack Battery on the Garrison.

Red-backed Shrike – The juvenile was still in fields along Carn Friars Farm Track.

Wryneck – 1 still in the Standing Stones Field, Lower Moors, 1 still below Buzza Hill,1 in a field on Rocky Hill, on the coastal path near the airfield turning circle and 1 on the path from Ennor Close, Old Town to the Airport.

Black-tailed Godwit – 7 on Bryher.

Whinchat – 1 on the south turning circle on the airfield and 9 on Bryher.

Redstart – 1 on Bryher (photo).

Pied Flycatcher – 1 near Lower Broome Platform on the Garrison and 2 on Bryher.

Spotted Flycatcher – 3 on the Garrison and 7 on Bryher.

Friday (16/09)

Ortolan Bunting – 1 on the south turning circle on the airfield.

Short-toed Lark – 1 on the south turning circle on the airfield (photo).

Wryneck – 1 near Giant’s Castle, 1 Porth Minnick, 1 in the Standing Stones Field, 1 near Morning Point on the Garrison and 1 Back Lane, Tresco.

Hen Harrier – 1 over St. Agnes moving to Gugh and then seen over the Golf Course on St. Mary’s.

Great Shearwater – 70 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the return crossing from St. Mary’s to Penzance,

Sooty shearwater – 2 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the return crossing from St. Mary’s to Penzance.

Manx Shearwater – 30 on a pelagic trip 3miles southwest of Bishop Rock.

European Storm-petrel – 2 on a pelagic trip 3miles southwest of Bishop Rock.

Great Skua – 1 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the return crossing from St. Mary’s to Penzance.

Grey Phalarope – 1 seen in Scilly waters from the Scillonian III on the return crossing from St. Mary’s to Penzance and 1 on a pelagic trip 3miles southwest of Bishop Rock.

Lapwing – 1 on Peninnis and presumably the same 1 seen later on the airport.

Wood Sandpiper – 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Green Sandpiper – 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Ruff – 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Black-tailed Godwit – 12 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Great Spotted Woodpecker – 1 near Peacehaven.

Merlin – 1 flew threw the Standing Stones Field.

Kingfisher – 1 in the Standing Stones Field.

Swift – 1 over the Garrison.

Wheatear – 30 0n the airfield.

Whinchat – 1 in the Standing Stones Field, 2 on Peninnis and 4 on Tresco.

Common Whitethroat –1 on Peninnis and 2 on Tresco.

Lesser Whitethroat – 1 on Tresco.

Garden Warbler – 1 on Tresco.

Pied Flycatcher – 2 in the pastures at the bottom of Rocky Hill, 1 Helvear and 2 on Tresco.

Spotted Flycatcher – 8 in the Garrison pines, 1 in the Chaplaincy Garden in Hugh Town, 2 in Lower Moors, 2 Helvear, 1 Rocky Hill and 6 on Tresco.

Meadow Pipit – 80 0n the airfield and 30 on the Garrison.

Tree Pipit – 1 Helvear.

Yellow Wagtail – 2 flew over Peninnis.

Saturday (17/09)

Western Bonelli’s Warbler – 1 still on Bryher.

Melodious Warbler – 1 near St. Martin’s Campsite.

Ortolan Bunting – 1 still by the turning circle on the airfield (photo).

Short-toed Lark – 1 still on the airfield.

Red-backed Shrike – 1 still at Carn Friars Farm.

Wryneck – 1 on a stone wall along the coastal path beyond Juliet’s Garden, 1 along King Edward’s Road, Peninnis on a field wall just before the millstone, 1 at Green Farm, 1 on a rock at Giant’s Castle and 2 at Great Bay, St. Martin’s.

Lapland Bunting – The first of the autumn was 1 on the airfield.

Lapwing – 1 still by the terminal building on the airfield.

Spotted Redshank – 1 flying around calling at Rushy Bay, Bryher. This is a scarce wader on Scilly.

Kingfisher – 1 in the Standing Stones Field, Lower Moors.

Turtle Dove – The first of the autumn was 1 flying north over Maypole.

Common Whitethroat – 1 at Carn Friars Farm and 1 in the Standing Stones Field, Lower Moors.

Whinchat – 3 at Carn Friars Farm and 1 in the Standing Stones Field, Lower Moors.

Pied Flycatcher – 1 on King Edward’s Road, Peninnis, 2 at Carn Friars Farm, in the beachside gardens at Little Porth, 1 in the Chaplaincy garden and 1 by St. Martin’s cricket pitch.

Spotted Flycatcher – 2 at Carn Friars Farm and 1 in the Standing Stones Field, Lower Moors.
