Great Shearwater – 6 on the joint sharking/birding pelagic trip 3 miles southwest of Bishop Rock.

Manx Shearwater – 1000+ on the joint sharking/birding pelagic trip 3 miles southwest of Bishop Rock.

Common Sandpiper – 4 on Abbey Pool, Tresco and 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.

Green Sandpiper – 1 on Abbey Pool, Tresco and 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.

Wood Sandpiper – 1 on Abbey Pool, Tresco and 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.

Great Skua – 1 on the joint sharking/birding pelagic trip 3 miles southwest of Bishop Rock.

Hobby – The first-summer bird was over higher Moors.

Short-billed Common Dolphin – 20 on the joint sharking/birding pelagic trip 3 miles southwest of Bishop Rock.

Porbeagle Shark – 3 on the joint sharking/birding pelagic trip 3 miles southwest of Bishop Rock, 2 of which were caught, tagged and released.

Atlantic Bluefin Tuna – 2 on the joint sharking/birding pelagic trip 3 miles southwest of Bishop Rock.

Friday (05/08) 

On another superb trip those on the “Oriole Birding” evening pelagic 3 miles southwest of Bishop Rock saw: 24 Cory’s Shearwater, 10 Great Shearwater, 1 Sooty Shearwater, 3 Balearic Shearwater, 1000+ Manx Shearwater, 40 European Storm-petrel, 1 Great Skua and in the water were 30 Short-beaked Common Dolphin & an Ocean Sunfish.

Lesser Yellowlegs – 1 still on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Common Sandpiper – 4 on Abbey Pool, Tresco and 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.

Green Sandpiper – 2 on Abbey Pool & 1 on the Great Pool, Tresco and 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.

Swift – 1 over Longstone.

Tree Pipit – 1 over Longstone.

Saturday (06/08)

Another spectacular trip on the “Oriole Birding” first daytime pelagic 7 miles west of Bishop Rock produced: 2 Wilson’s Storm-petrel (photo), 30 European Storm-petrels 5 Cory’s Shearwater (photo), 40+ Great Shearwater (photo), 25 Sooty Shearwater, 1 Balearic Shearwater, 1500+ Manx Shearwater, 1 Great Skua and in the water were 2 Fin Whale (photo) 150+ Short-beaked Common Dolphin (photo), 6 Harbour Porpoise, 15 Bluefin Tuna & an Ocean Sunfish.

Lesser Yellowlegs – 1 still on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Wood Sandpiper – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.

Common Sandpiper – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool and 1 on Big Pool, St. Agnes.

Kingfisher – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.

Whimbrel – 2 on Samson.

Swift – 3 over St. Agnes.

Sunday (07/08)

The second daytime pelagic “Oriole Birding” pelagic trip rounded off a successful weekend with: A stunning full summer-plumage Sabine’s Gull (photo), 30 European Storm-petrels, 8 Great Shearwater, 4 Sooty Shearwater, 600 Manx Shearwater, 1 Great Skua, a Fin Whale, 60 Short-beaked Common Dolphin, 2 Blue Shark & an Ocean Sunfish.

Lesser Yellowlegs – 1 still on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Honey Buzzard – 1 flew south over the Great Pool, Tresco.

Pochard – 1 on Tresco.

Little Egret – 6 on the Great Pool, Tresco.

Wood Sandpiper – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.

Green Sandpiper – 8 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Common Sandpiper – 4 on Tresco and 3 Porth Hellick Pool.

Black-tailed Godwit – 1 on Tresco.

Knot – 1 on Tresco.

Purple Sandpiper – An early individual was on the Western Rocks.

Whimbrel – 1 on the Western Rocks.

Yellow-legged Gull – 7 on Abbey Pool, Tresco.

Swift – 1 over Bryher.

Kingfisher – 1 on Porth Hellick Pool.

Spotted Flycatcher – 1 in a pine belt on the Garrison.

White Wagtail – 5 on Tresco.
