Thursday (19/11)

Barn Owl – 1 flew over Porthloo towards Rocky Hills at 16:55 (a rare bird on Scilly)

Kumlien’s Gull – A juvenile off Morning Point on the Garrison 

Cattle Egret – 1 with cows west of Longstone Bungalow, later seen in a field at four Lanes, 2 by the Great Pool, Tresco

Siberian Greylag Goose – 1 still in the usual field at the top of Kittydown

Russian White-fronted Goose – 1 still in the usual field at the top of Kittydown

Shelduck – 3  Samson

Great Northern Diver – 1 off St. Martin’s

Spoonbill – 2 Samson

Mediterranean Gull – 9 in Porth Cressa

Sanderling – 1 in a flock of about 60 birds on Porthloo was colour ringed, it was seen on Porthloo last year on November 21st and was originally ringed as an adult at Sandgerdi in Iceland on May 30th 2011, making it at least 10 years old.

Common Sandpiper – 1 at Little Porth

Iceland Gull – 1 in the pig field behind Star Castle, a  juvenile in Porth Cressa

Swallow – 2 St. Martin’s

Willow Warbler – 1 still in Holy Vale

Garden Warbler – A very late bird on rocks at the north end of Porthloo Beach

Firecrest – 1 Sallyport, 1 Porth Hellick Loop, 1 Lower Broome

Black Redstart – 3 at Little Porth, 5 Porthloo Beach, 1 Old Quay, St. Martins

Whinchat – Another late individual at Porth Hellick

White Wagtail – 1 Porthloo Beach

Great Northern Diver – 2 close inshore off South Beach, Tresco, 2 in Great Bay, St. Martin’s

Mediterranean Gull – 3 Porth Cressa, 4 Morning Point

Iceland Gull – 1 in the pig field behind Star Castle. It or another flew across the harbour and landed on Newford Island, Porthloo, later at Morning Point

Little Egret – 1 Porth Cressa

Purple Sandpiper – 7 in Great Bay, St. Martin’s

Woodcock – 1 Dump Clump 

Kingfisher – 1 Porthloo

Great Spotted Woodpecker – 1 Lower Moors

Jackdaw – 1 flew west over Porth Cressa towards the Garrison

Swallow – 4 around ranging between Hugh Town/ Lower Moors/Old Town

Yellow-browed Warbler – 1 Dump Clump, 1 lower Moors, 1 at the junction of Rocky Hills and Porthloo Lane

Siberian Chiffchaff – 1 Dump Clump

Firecrest – 2 Dump Clump, 1 Upper Broome

Black Redstart – 4 Little Porth, 1 St. Martin’s
