Wednesday 10th November 2010 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’sDusky Warbler, Siberian Chiffchaff & 2 Firecrests near Higher Moors pumping station, Little Grebe on Porth Hellick Pool, Richard’s Pipit in fields between Old Town and the airport and a Lapwing on Porthcressa beach below Buzza Tower. Early morning visible migration from Longstone were 1000 Redwings, 250 Fieldfares, 350 Wood Pigeons, 350 Chaffinch and 50 Brambling all flying north, 3 Yellow-browed Warblers and a Firecrest at Lower Moors.

Tuesday 9th November 2010 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’s – The Dusky Warbler still near higher Moors pumping station and a ring-tail Hen Harrier flew low over Trenoweth.

St. Agnes – The adult Spotted Sandpiper was still present.

Tresco – A Lapland Bunting was by the Great Pool.

Sunday 7th November 2010 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’sDusky Warbler still near Higher Moors pumping station, where a Brambling also flew over. 3 Lapwing on the airfield, 3 Pale-bellied Brent Geese in Thomas Porth and a Red-breasted Merganser at Porth Mellon.

Tresco – 4 Whooper Swans, 4 Pink-footed Geese and a Scaup

Saturday 6th November 2010 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’sDusky Warbler, Yellow-browed Warbler, Siberian Chiffchaff, 4 Firecrests and Great Spotted Woodpecker all in the Higher Moors/Porth Hellick area. A Lapland Bunting flew over Lower Moors, also there Long-eared Owl, Willow Warbler and Siberian Chiffchaff. 3 Pale-bellied Brent Geese were in Thomas Porth and a Red-breasted Merganser was in Porth Mellon. A Black Redstart was in the Harbour car park.

St. Agnes – The adult Spotted Sandpiper was still present.

Tresco – 3 Whooper Swans, 4 Pink-footed Geese and a Snow Bunting.

Friday 5th November 2010 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’sDusky Warbler, Firecrest, Siberian Chiffchaff & a late Garden Warbler near higher Moors pumping station and 3 Brent Geese at Shark’s Pit.

St. Agnes – The adult Spotted Sandpiper was still present.

Tresco – 4 Pink-footed Geese and 3 Whooper Swans.

Thursday 4th November 2010 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’sDusky Warbler, Yellow-browed Warbler & Siberian Chiffchaff near Higher Moors Pumping Station, Yellow-browed Warbler, Siberian Chiffchaff, Firecrest & a late Willow Warbler in Lower Moors, Yellow-Browed Warbler on Porth Hellick Loop, Firecrest in the Dump Clump and 3 Brent Geese in Shark’s Pit.

St. Agnes – The Spotted Sandpiper was still present.

Tresco – 4 Pink-footed Geese and 3 Whooper Swans.

Wednesday 3rd November 2010 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’sCommon Sandpiper at Watermill Cove, Yellow-browed Warbler at Newford Duckpond, Siberian Chiffchaff & Yellow-browed Warbler at Porth Hellick.

St. Agnes – The Spotted Sandpiper was still present.

Tresco – The 4 Whooper Swans and the 4 Pink-footed Footed Geese were still on the island.

Tuesday 2nd November 2010 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’sJack Snipe, 6 Greenshanks and 2 Redshanks on Porth Hellick Pool. A Common Buzzard & 4 Curlew at Sandy Lane and 3 Ravens & a Lapwing over Carn Friars. Dusky Warbler, Yellow-browed Warbler & Firecrest near Higher Moors pumping station and a Yellow-browed Warbler, 2 Firecrests & a Brambling in Lower Moors

St. Agnes – The Spotted Sandpiper, the Hen Harrier & the Waxwing were still present as were 3 or 4 Firecrests.

Sunday 31st October 2010 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’sRed-breasted Flycatcher still in the Garrison pines and Dusky Warbler, Yellow-browed Warbler, Marsh Warbler & Lesser Whitethroat near Higher Moors pumping station. 3 pale-bellied Brent Geese at Porthloo, Yellow-browed Warbler at Newford Duckpond and Yellow-browed Warbler, Firecrest & Willow Warbler in Lower Moors.

St. AgnesSpotted Sandpiper still present.

Monday 1st November 2010 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’s -A second Dusky Warbler reported near Shooters’ Pool, Lower Moors. The Dusky Warbler, Yellow-browed Warbler & Firecrest were near Higher Moors pumping station. Single Yellow-browed warblers were also at Trenoweth and on the Porth Hellick Loop trail. A Firecrest was on the Garrison and 3 pale-bellied Brent Geese flew past Morning Point

St. Agnes - Waxwing, Yellow-browed Warbler and Lapland Bunting.
