A very quiet month as expected with few reports. The first day of the month saw Slavonian Grebe, Black-troated Diver and thirteen Bar-tailed Godwits around St Martin’s. No reports were then recieved until the 9th when a Siskin was in a garden at high Lanes. The Black Duck was again on Tresco on the 11th when it was joined by a first-winter Med Gull. The 13th turned out to be ‘unlucky for some’, when a Waxwing in Old Town was killed by a cat and a Gyr was photographed at Gimble Porth by a non-birder! The latter was seen again by a non-birder on the 16th. Elsewhere, three Slavonian Grebes were off Innisidgen and an adult Black-throated Diver was off MacFarland’s Down. A Water Pipit and a Hooded Crow were on Bryher on the 20th and an early Hoopoe flew over Telegraph towards the golf course on the 23rd. The last day of the month produced three Golden Plover on the airfield and a Kingfisher at Porth Hellick Pool.
