Sunday 16th January 2011 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’s – 2 Long -eared Owls, 1 flew from Salakee to Tremelethen House and 1 flew from Porth Hellick Pool to Kittydown.

Samson - Spoonbill on Green Island.

12th-13th January 2011 IoS Bird Reports

2 Long-eared Owls at Salakee, St.Mary’s on Thursday (13/02) and a Purple Sandpiper below Hugh Town quay car park.

Tuesday 11th January 2011 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’s - A Purple Sandpiper and a Black Redstart on the beach below the Quay Car Park, where a Spoonbill also flew over. A Spoonbill in Old Town Bay and a Mistle Thrush at Bishop’s View.

Samson – A Spoonbill and a first-winter drake Eider.

St. Mary’s – A second-winter Glaucous Gull flew from Porth Mellon towards the quay

Sunday 9th January 2011 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’s – A Black Redstart at Little Porth and 3 Slavonian Grebes & Black-necked Grebes off Innisidgen.

Tresco - A Black-throated Diver, 7 Dark-bellied Brent Geese and a Long-tailed Duck.

Samson – A first-winter drake Eider, 2 Spoonbills, a Common Gull, 3 Skylarks, several Great Northern Divers and lots of Wigeon.

Saturday 8th January 2011 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’s – A Mistle Thrush in Old Town and 2 Long-eared Owls at Salakee Farm.

Tresco – A female Red-breasted Merganser.

Samson – A first-winter drake Eider.

SamsonSpoonbill & Red-breasted Merganser were the only reports of the day

St. Mary’s – The Rose-coloured Starling still at Telegraph and 2 Firecrests in Lower Moors.

Samson – A first-winter Spoonbill on Samson Flats.

Wednesday 5th January 2010 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’s – 2 Slavonian Grebes of Innisidgen and the Rose-coloured Starling still at Telegraph.

Samson – 2 Spoonbills, an Eider and 7 Dark-bellied Brent Geese.

TrescoBlack-throated Diver, Red-breasted Merganser and 6 Common Scoters.

Bryher – A Hooded Crow.

Tuesday 4th January 2011 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’sGreat Spotted Woodpecker and a Firecrest in Holy Vale and a Spoonbill in Old Town Bay were the only reports today.
